"Auric Goldfinger: cruel, clever, frustratingly careful. A cheat at Canasta and a crook on a massive scale in everyday life. The sort of man James Bond hates. So it's fortunate that Bond is the man charged by both the Bank of England and MI5 to discover what this, the richest man in the country, intends to do with his ill-gotten gains - and what his connection is with SMERSH, the feared Soviet spy-killing corps. But once inside this deadly criminal's organisation, 007 finds that Goldfinger's schemes are more grandiose - and lethal - than anyone could have imagined. Not only is he planning the greatest gold robbery in history, but mass murder as well..."

I read this recently. There is a passage which say Bond does not like short people which is funny as Daniel Craig is Bond now. :D

I thought this was quite mediocre to be honest. Parts of it drag on too long while the few exciting parts are too brief. I did, however, like the three phase structure of it though. Beginning the story with Bond exposing Goldinger as a card cheat was unimaginative though as Fleming had already used that idea at the start of Moonraker with Drax. Tilly Masterton's character was a highlight for me, a shame they reduced her role so much in the film.
"Dalton makes an effective Bond - lacking Sean Connery's grace and humor, and Roger Moore's suave self-mockery, but with a lean tension and a toughness that is possibly more contemporary" - Roger Ebert
