Is Fleming's Bond a bit dim?
Is Fleming's Bond a bit dim?
OK, maybe my view is slightly coloured by the fact that the last two books I read were CR and DAF. In the former, he seems to take an awful long time to figure out that there's something a little suspicious about Vesper, despite her odd behaviour towards the end of the book, but this can be put down to him thinking with the wrong head. No such excuse exists, however, for the amount of time he takes to work out Wint and Kidd's identities on the Queen Elizabeth in DAF, despite the ample clues offered to him. Shouldn't a spy be a little bit sharper-witted than that? Discuss.

Suppose you have a point in even in movies it take him awhile to figure it out. thinking of GF at this moment.
In Dr No the book he was a little bright. Some of the other book he seemed quite dull, but then he was more of a reaction to events than a instigator.

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

Nobody else is going to say anything bout this? Come on it's a great topic
