I think it had too much stacked against it. Numerous explanations have been offered for its failure, personally I don't believe it was down to any one single factor, more like "all of the above". I doubt we'll be seeing those Boba Fett and Obi-Wan prequels now.
I think obi wan is more of a possibility as they have a actor already in the role , fett was supposed to be green lighted. Notice the last Jedi directors promised trilogy isn’t materializing.

I don’t think audiences were eager for a solo origins story, if ford had come back and done a movie I think it would have done real well .
In some ways the build up to solo reminds me of John carter, except John carter they wanted to die. The solo change of directors and reshoot late upto the release date then the promo that really didn’t sell us on the idea of young Han Solo . The new solo actor was not brought out to sell the movie well not as much as Lando.
They should have paused the release and production until they got it right.

It was a good movie that felt like it belonged in the sw universe but it didn’t wow or hold the excitement most Sw movies do

The reviews I've seen have been a bit meh, saying that they'd seen it all before.

um I hearing it has all the Jurassic Park trappings but more thriller horror oriented than any movie since the first movie with ground work for spin off and sequels. Also more dinosaur action

I must say I don’t think the trailers sell this movie well if it is like I’m hearing it is

looks like big weekend for a sequel for a 14 year in the making. I was afraid Craig t Nelson would die before a sequel would finally be made

At Black Panther I heard a family who was really into the movie and sitting through the credits talk about the upcoming marvel
Movies in the midst of this they included incredibles 2 as a movie they are looking forward to, so it kind of bridges two markets.

In Star Wars talk solo has caused a lot of the press that helpfully built up Disney interests to question the franchise.

On line of thoughts is Disney can’t let the festering Ill feeling between fans and the franchise continue into 2019, they need to take action to fix soon. But what can they do? Fire Kathleen Kennedy? Not likely. Hire a right hand man fans approve of? I’m not sure many fans have opinions of insider name like that short of bringing in George Lucas who has his own problems.
IMO there are two ways forward, one is to release the movies in their original forms but that’s good for a one trick holiday sales event. Other way forward it to make last Jedi a phantom episode, like a force projection of the future and give episode 9 two parts to make up for it.

I have tickets for Saturday night for Jurassic World 2. Overall, Fallen Kingdom brought in an estimated $173.6 million internationally this weekend for a running total estimated at $370 million, opening at the #1 position in all 51 territories where it has released thus far. Where's FBF these months? These are his kind of films to go see.

yep they took the wrong message away from solo. But honestly they need to recheck what they are doing. A solo trilogy could be good, obI wan and fett too. But they screwed the pouch hard with last Jedi, and maybe they don’t think they did it Kathleen Kennedy who probably leaked this doesn’t think she screwed the biggest series in cinematic history

We went to Jurassic world 2, traveled a bit to see it in imax. Great movie a lot of fun. Audience clapped at the end credits. Crowed imax theater too. I think it’ll beat the $130 million estimates

I just saw Jurassic World. It was OK and enjoyable and yet predictable and open-ended at the finish, as usual.
