The Widows Of Malabar Hill by Sujata Massey.It’s a mystery set in 1920’s India..the main character is a lady lawyer(say that 10 times fast!) who was the first of her kind(it’s based on a true story),in a society that discouraged such things.

I read a book from 1977 called The National Front by Martin Walker. It is about a big British right wing party - which had Nazi elements - which wanted to expel all non-white people. I rembered reading it in the 90s and enjoyed it, so when I saw it cheap I bought it.

But I found that when I read it it was not the same book I had read before. The book I had read was The National Front by Nigel Fielding published in 1981. This is more of a sociological study and the other book is more a journalistic account. In the Fielding book the author spent time with David McCalden, a young man from Northern Ireland. He was a holocaust denier. He moved to the southern Califonia, and offered a prize for anyone proving the holocaust. This was made into a film starring Leonard Nimoy as a Jewish man.

I'm reading Safe Quartered Out Here by Geirge MacDonald Fraser - a writer of the screenplay of Octopussy. It is a memoir of his time fighting in Burma in WW2.

This is a different book to the one based on the movie. The Downfall one is by Traudl Junge and came out in 2002. Junge wrote her memoir in the late 1940s, but it was published only in 2002. The Schroeder one was published in Germany in the 80s, but only in English in 2009. Junge was in the bunker at the end. Schroder went to the Berghof before the last days of Hitler in Berlin.

After the success of the Traudl Junge book several of these memoirs of Hitler's staff were published (I Was Hitler's Gardener etc etc).
