Funny story.. I've only seen parts of the movie(my parents got it from Netflix). I had read the book years ago but wanted to throw it across the room. Watched a few minutes of the movie and decided that I maybe needed to give the book another try.

Second viewing of the movie was less impressive. Visually stunning without a doubt however the story I found lacking. Checking the appropriate feel good psychobabble boxes and that's about all.

I'm curious if the book is really something special? I suspect the praise for the book could be similar to movies.

Read several Randy Wayne White's Doc Ford series which takes place in Florida. Bought one of JK Rowling's Robert Galbraith books and will probably read that next.

Currently reading Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy-the first book of his I've read-it's very violent but then it's a Western so you expect it(I have a feeling, having seen the movie of No Country For Old Men that everything he writes is this violent)

Currently reading Legends of Charlemagne by Thomas Bulfinch, one of the three volumes of Bulfinch's Mythology. The other volumes cover Greek and Roman myths, and tales of King Arthur. Charlemagne legends were once as popular as those, but are now mostly forgotten. Anyway, the reason I mention it here is that I was rather amused to discover that one of the characters in the book is named Rogero the Moor!

I read a spin-off novel of the Diagnosis Murder tv series. It was a solid mystery, and fun as I like the tv show. I looked at the author Lee Goldberg's webpage. He has wrote for and produced many tv shows such as Diagnosis Murder. He has some interesting things on his website about writing for tv and the many mystery books he writes. These mystery authors can write books very quickly.
