Re: Poll: Your choice for next the next 007
I was impressed with Jason in Life on Mars. He reminds me of a young Mel Gibson, although that may be wrong for Sam Tyler which was going to be tough fit since we already have a pretty good Sam Tyler in the UK series.
Considering he was playing an Americanised Sam I do not consider him as having done so badly. After he all was an Irishman pretending to be an American, pretending to be dazed in New York City 1974
Jason has the kind of look that wouldn't necessary be wrong for Bond, the problem is he is not necessary right either. Although compared to what we have now he would be a serious improvement.
Looking at this particular picture I think in general he conveys the type of look Ian might have approved of.

If they screen tested him and he actually was hired,I wouldn't complain.Purists might have a problem with it, but EON *did* screen test James Brolin back in the day, so who knows?

Damian Lewis, Michael Fassbender, Toby Stephens, and Matthew Good.
No one on that poll is worthy.

Toby Stephens really? He was decent as Bond in the radio dramas. I doubt the producers will ever give him a second though because of Die Another Day. Althou why they gave Joe Don Baker of all people a second go is anybody guess.

Stephens would make a good Bond, but I think he would make an excellent Drax. There were many hints of it in DAD as Graves, but the writing and daddy issues were extremely compromising.

Of those, Stephens is too old, and he was in Die Another Day, Good is a possibility, as is Lewis(though I can see a backlash against a ginger Bond).

Stephens was dreadful in that Goldfinger adaption on Radio 4. He had some bizarre transatlantic accent as Bond and was fairly dull.

That's one thing the Bond films(and the radio plays) need to work on...characters' accents tend to be all over the place..not naming any names eva greenJames wrote:Stephens was dreadful in that Goldfinger adaption on Radio 4. He had some bizarre transatlantic accent as Bond and was fairly dull.

i know he's not on the ist but i think Jason Stathom should make a good bond. After all he has got good skills. Maybe even Gerard Butler. has the charm to pull of bond as well.

It seems bondnotblonde would say Jerry Sadowitz when it comes to this topic even though he's not in the list.

Henry Cavill is the frontrunner on this list of candidates.
Re: Poll: Your choice for next the next 007
Lots of people here agree with Martin Campbell that he should have been Bond in CR. With him landing the Superman role, I wonder if he might be too big for Bond now. And let's hope the "curse of Superman" doesn't get him!Sir Dennis Hodge wrote:Henry Cavill is the frontrunner on this list of candidates.

I think the Henry Cavill boat may of sailed, After QOS and the latest Fiasco from the Producers. In my Opinion The role of Bond is not the Great Role it once was so many of the people on the list could Pass on the offer. and we end up with another Babs experiment !

Re: Poll: Your choice for next the next 007
I voted for Hugh Jackman as being the best of this crop of actors, but very likely, the man destined to deliver us from Craig is not on this list, and may not even be much in the public consciousness at the moment. I don't think most people had heard of Connery, Lazenby or Dalton before they were cast, and that may well be the case with Craig's replacement. Of course, the producers could go with the "well-known-actor-with-career-in-decline" route they went quite sucessfully with Moore and Brosnan, but I'm not sure who would fit that bill at this time. Most of the people on this list either aren't all that good to begin with (Goran what's his name), are way too big (Bale) or are way too big at the moment (Cavill). Jackman was huge back when EON unceremonsiously dumped Brosnan. He isn't as big now, but he's still starring as Wolverine and in plenty of musicals. I'm not sure he's at the same stage of his career that Moore was after The Persuaders was cancelled or that Brosnan was in his direct-to-video phase in the years between Remington Steele and GoldenEye.

Brosnan did Mrs Doubtfire in that period, so his career wasn't completely on the skids.A Crag-like face wrote:. Perhaps Paul Hogan should be the next James Bond.

FBF, what's with the current obsession with Paul Hogan, out of curiousity? I mean, I enjoyed his Dundee movies a lot, but he's well past his prime (and LOOKS well past his prime too, which is more important).FormerBondFan wrote:Perhaps Paul Hogan should be the next James Bond.

I'm not saying he should be Bond. I'm just laughing at the idea of him in the role.A Crag-like face wrote:FBF, what's with the current obsession with Paul Hogan, out of curiousity? You're quite new here. You'll soon learn that once an idea amuses FBF, he'll post the same joke over and over and over and over again. Before Hogan it was Jerry Sadowitz as Bond, and before that it was Carrot Top and before that it was Steven Seagal.A Crag-like face wrote:FBF, what's with the current obsession with Paul Hogan, out of curiousity?
