As I recall, he had a strong Croatian accent, which would probably rule him out from playing Bond.

Accent was biggest problem & he is too old now (43)...

His accent has improved over the years. There is a video interview on his Facebook Fanpage where
Goran Visnjic speaks English fluently, with good accent.
