How long is it now since William Hill assured us that the announcement was "only a few weeks away?"

Yeah it appears they know nothing. This reminds me of before craig was cast we heard names such as Ewan Mcgregor, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Clive Owen, Orlando Bloom, and Eric Bana but when it came time for screentest none of these names were there.

Yes, except that this time, the names being touted are mostly obscure bit-part actors. Though since that's what Craig was when he was cast, perhaps these are the names we should be looking at, rather than the better-known Turner and Hiddleston.

While the James Bond final four for Casino Royale continues to be up for debate. We know Craig, Cavill but the other mentioneds seem to be between Alex O'Loughlin, Sam Worthington and Goran Vinjsnc. Leaving out Tom Hiddleston and Aidan Tuner and including the most recent names of James Norton and Jack Huston who would you like to see as the final two? I'd go Norton, Huston, Tom Cullen, Rupert Friend.

Don't know Huston but he has a better look than Norton.

A big no to Norton. He looks like annoying tv chef Jamie Oliver. If we're throwing names around away from the bookies favourites I could probably live with Dan Stevens. His character in The Guest would take out Daniel Craig's Bond in about 3 seconds.

Exclusive: James Bond Auditions Have Started, and 2 Actors Have Already Been Nixed as 007

The race to become the seventh new James Bond is heating up, and Heat Street has the latest information from a well-placed source.

We can reveal that two young British actors have had screen tests to replace Daniel Craig, who has been 007 for over a decade but who has made it publicly clear he wants to move on as Ian Fleming’s iconic spy and will soon be handing in his license to kill.

Jamie Bell (star of King Kong and AMC’s historical drama Turn) and Theo James (star of the Divergent series) both screen tested recently. “Neither test went great,” the source tells Heat Street, “and the race is still wide open.”

The source added: “[Producer] Barbara Broccoli is currently making a [non-Bond] movie with Bell but when it came to his test, he just didn’t look the part.

“Theo James impressed Eon by conveying a Bond aura with his Hugo Boss adverts but this didn’t translate into the audition and he’s now out of contention.”

The source also revealed that Irish actor Aidan Turner—best known for his smoldering turn in last year’s British TV period drama Poldark—Dominic Cooper and Tom Hiddleston will all soon be meeting with producers. “There’s an increasing feeling that the new Bond should be on the younger side, which is bad news for [45-year-old] Damian Lewis and [43-year-old]Idris Elba.” There has been speculation that Lewis and Elba could get screen tests.

Contrary to what has been written elsewhere, Hiddleston’s high-profile dalliance with Taylor Swift has not damaged his 007 aspirations. “Hiddleston boosting his ‘red-blooded male’ status with the paparazzi attention hasn’t lessened his standings in the eyes of Eon,” the source said. “Quite the contrary.”

It’s common to audition a number of actors as part of selecting a new James Bond. Prior to Craig landing the role in 2005, Dominic West and Sam Worthington were among those who auditioned for the part.

This article sounds iffy. Most sources insist that Hiddleston has already met with the producers.

If Barbara really did give Jamie Bell an audition then we're in big trouble. Don't see Hiddleston as Bond but he'd make a good Ian Fleming.

Turner too, though I suppose it's quite likely that they would want to meet with their shortlisted candidates more than once. But yeah, it just sounds like a rehash of previous stories quoting unnamed "insider sources".

the information varies so wildly I wonder if there is a source, or when constitutes a "insider" a guy at the lunch stand? A Broccoli Wilson ?

The only thing that seems in agreement is DC is done

Hearing now that films being delayed and Craig may be back in the mix. I personally cant see it but thats the rumblings right now. I think a delay helps Aidan Turner most.

Turner was asked about Bond again the other day and said he prefers not to comment. Might be the best approach to take. Going back to Jack Huston, I read that he did a play with Barbara Broccoli. That probably explains why the bookmakers are keeping his odds short.

Best not to comment. Why do I find that promising?

His agent let a lot out of the bag a few months ago. But the publicity is to good to turn down even if you know you are out of it I can respect the actors who flatly deny the BS. Like idiris, who be great as 009.

Yes, best tactic to take. If I was Barbara I'd dislike the way Hiddleston went around talking about Bond all the time as if he was somehow entitled to it and had a global tidal wave of public opinion behind him. In other news, Jack Huston spoke about Bond for the first time the other night. He said he'd love to do it but hasn't been approached.

Fessbender is supposedly being talked to. The biggest surprise to me would be Sony coming back as distributor and partner. They sucked promoting the films and leaked the script

Daniel Craig is supposed to be doing an interview for an event called Beyond Bond at the start of October in New York. He's bound to be asked if he's doing the next film so it will interesting to see what his reply is.

Is that what he is calling the interview?
