Interestingly Pierce was considered for Batman back then. Actors can change their look by haircuts weight gain weight loss etc.....look at Poldark Turner and And then there was none Turner.

I was thinking about Brosnan's near miss of batfame . It's one of those movies people didn't get until after it was a hit. They heard Batman and thought Adam west and career suicide.
Lord of the rings was the same kind of deal people expected it to fail and be unbelievably cheesy . Connery turned down Gandalf

I think Connery had already retired from acting by that point.

He was on his way out. League of extraordinary gentlemen was 2003. Supposedly he took that turkey because he missed out on LotR

He was just perfectly Bond-like in ATTWN. There is no other audition needed. He passed with flying colors.

While I agree on Turner and he is at the top of my list currently for Bond #7 I think the worst thing that could hurt his chances would be a screentest. Put him in a screentest with someone like Tom Cullen or Jack Huston or Dan Stevens or Rupert Friend or Oliver Jackson Cohen and he might not be the best anymore. Not saying that he wouldnt because I agree with Veronica that he looked like he was born to play Bond but, look at Casino Royale from the rumuors the final screentest was between a group consisting of some combination of Henry Cavill, Alex O Loughlin, Sam Worthington, Julian Mcmahon, Goran Vinjnsc and Daniel Craig one can make a extremely strong case that the person who looked the least like a potential 007 got the role.

What really pushed Craig towards the finishing line is Barbara's fondness for him, that much is clear. Now,if she doesn't have a clear favorite when it comes to possible candidates for next Bond...I think Turner is safe. Although it is true that only god knows what's in Barbara's head.

BOND #7

Without Barbra there would be no Craig bond. The director wanted Cavill, Sony's pascal was fawning over Clive Owen, sony and MGM were cool with Brosnan's fifth. Even MGW didn't want Craig, babs was hung up in Craig when MGM wanted the layer cake director. So she made him a big name inspire of himself.

Now without this site there maybe he didn't get such a long run. I feel the fact there was a public fan revolt they couldn't to this day admit Craig sucks.

Matthew Vaughan pitched Craig to Babbzy, but he never wanted the series to get so up itself - that's why he made Kingsmen in response.

I never heard he pitched Craig he may have. I always heard there was bad blood because babs dissed him as a director so he's made several bond films in all but name. Honestly he could make 7 official bond movies in a row and not be played out

He said it in an interview. I'd have to dig to find it again, though. Apparently, he was the director of Casino Royale for 2 or 3 days, but it turned out to be a clerical error :!:

That makes sense because MGM wanted him. Easy to see how that rumor could start. Unlike the Christopher Nolan bond IMDb Story

Since Casino Royale casting is being discussed on the Casino Royale DVD I own they mentioned Craig and 4 others came in for action scene screentest on the same day do we know who the other 4 were that day? Seeing who they looked at then can give a idea on who might be looked at next.

The list seems to vary according to the source. I know that Henry Cavill and Sam Worthington were shortlisted, not sure about the other two.

I think this was it: http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2015-01- ... mes-bond-2

He seems to have changed his mind, though. Look at his answer to the question "Do you have a favorite Bond?" here: http://io9.gizmodo.com/matthew-vaughn-e ... 1685436781

I'm not sure that Visjnic was ever a serious contender, due to his accent, but the others sound plausible.
