I don't really mind the new Star Trek movie focusing on the early days of Kirk and his crew, but wouldn't be interesting if it is based upon Enterprise?
Re: Star Trek
I think the decision to focus on the original crew is a commercial one. The Star Trek movies have been performing worse and worse at the box office, so I suspect they are trying to expand their audience beyond the die-hard Trekkies. Kirk and Spock are universally known, and origin stories are all the rage at the moment. An Enterprise movie would only appeal to the people who watch that show.

Nemesis didn't do very well at the box office.

And TNG used to be relatively popular in their time too. If they couldn't pull it off with their last flick, how could a bunch of unknowns playing iconic roles that were preserved by the original cast for over 40 years?FormerBondFan wrote:Nemesis didn't do very well at the box office.

I wish TNG had a better ending even though I enjoy Nemesis.
Re: Star Trek
I guess the studio is banking on the characters being more popular than the actors who played them.stockslivevan wrote:And TNG used to be relatively popular in their time too. Re: Star Trek
It's pretty desperate of them, there really is no bigger franchise Paramount had than Star Trek huh? The Indy films don't even count since they're produced by LucasFilm.Kristatos wrote:I guess the studio is banking on the characters being more popular than the actors who played them.stockslivevan wrote:And TNG used to be relatively popular in their time too. Looks interesting. I love the Kirk pose in the bottom one. Very Shatner.

I thought Sylar would make a good Spock, and these pics seem to confirm it.

How are they goign to tie the young Kirk on Enterprise and the different look with the Show.
Actors look good I wonder about using the ST:TOS characters and going Pre-TV Show post Enterprise the series.

Re: Star Trek
Nimoy's in the prequel as an older Spock.

Re: Star Trek
It's still a reboot, old Spock or not. The writers confirmed this. Having Nimoy is their way of giving a nod to the old show while at the same time having a passing-the-torch between old and new.FormerBondFan wrote:Nimoy's in the prequel as an older Spock.
So far I don't like much of it, but I'm still reserving full judgment.
