Time travel reboot!

I don't know about this. :? I love star was more than trek so maybe it will not be too bad.

Too cool 8) Lenard Nimoy being their to introduce teh new film. He has always been a class act. Kind of Treks Roger Moore, but with pointy ears ;)

I wasn't saying I wouldn't give it a chance. After all I gave craig a chance.
It seems strange they need to rewrite the original and there for every series since.
There was charm that came with good trek mvoies/shows it would b e a shame if they lost that to emulate star wars is all.

The fact that Leonard Nimoy is in it as Old Spock suggests that it is an origin story/prequel rather than a reboot.

The BBFC rated it 12A for "moderate violence and threat". There is no extended classification information on their website yet, so I can't give you any more detail than that.

I think this "origin" story will be better than Casino Royale. For example, the young Kirk is not being played by a 40 year old actor who looks 50 .

J.J. Abrams wanted to cast Matt Damon as the young Kirk. So a simililar situation to Craig playing a young James Bond could have occured.

How old is Kirk in the new movie?
'She looked sharply up at him. 'And who might you be?'

'My name's Bond, James Bond'.

No he didn't. Matt Damon called him up after hearing that rumour and Abrams told him he was too old.

At least Damon's willing to admit he's too old for the role!

An untitled sequel isn't all that surprising. I hope it does well enough to merit it. But I hope more that Trek hasn't been gutted for the sake of dollars. Paramount sold out and squeezed out every diem they could before Trek ground to a crawl. Too bad they canceled Enterprise just as it was getting good.

You know what, there is something to this then, they really did run out of ideas for Trek. Enterprise was prequel, that tied in nicely to the original Trek, and the new movie is prequel, but not one that will tie in neatly to teh original

true, But I wonder if he is too young.
A young Bond can work, but didn't in CR becasue Craig is well in to middle age to pull of wet behind the ears and fresh on the scene ;)
