Just Captain America: Civil War yesterday. I will agree with BJ on this being better than BvS. This is how you make an action packed escapism with character moments, especially with the relationship between Capt America and Bucky. Great intro to Spidey, and Tom Holland somehow reminds me of a much younger Tobey McGuire. It's the best MCU installment by far.

You said it FBF. I saw it Saturday. :martini: After kicking off its release internationally on April 27th, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War has now surpassed Disney’s Zootopia to become the highest grossing film of 2016 worldwide, with a jaw-dropping total of $981.9 million and climbing. The sequel has amassed an international box office of $671.4 million, with $164.2 million of that coming from China alone. And with a domestic total of $310.5 million in just over two weeks in release, this thing is far from being out of steam—it already stands as the fifth highest grossing film of the year domestically. On the worldwide 2016 chart, the film has already far outpaced Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s $870 million total and it’ll be interesting to see if anything tops Civil War this year.

The Last Movie You Watched

Postby Omega » Sun May 22, 2016 5:10 pm

Watched Gods of Egypt last night.
It's a B movie like the mummy and Titan movies. CGI and fx are a little lame.
I enjoyed it, good story and just fun. I think they also got the mythology mostly right.

I watched it with three people two enjoyed it as well and would watch it again. One guy thought it wasn't even good enough to call crappy.

That's the only thing keeping me from recommending it. I can see it flaws but it is also part of the charm.

Kris if you ever watch it I'm curious what you think of it since we tend to agree on under rated movies.

Verdict did not suck! (But that seems to be in the eye of the beholder.)

Just watched ID4 2. In my opinion, I would say this Roland Emmerich's best film so far. Best film to kill some time while waiting for Episode 8.

Was this an early screening? I thought it opened today. Box Office Mojo is predicting an opening weekend in the region of $45-60 million, but thinks that Finding Dory should outgross it handily.

Christopher Lee always said it was his favourite of his Hammer films, and wanted it remade with modern special effects. I personally don't think a full remake is necessary. There are a couple of ropey effects shots in there (the giant spider in particular), but they could easily be replaced digitally, like in the remastered original series Star Trek.

I'm a little surprised to see the Horror Channel showing it in the middle of the afternoon, though. I know that, by Hammer standards, it is relatively restrained in terms of blood and gore, but I still wouldn't have thought of it as daytime viewing.

I started watching a Hammer film on Horror in the early evening then stopped as I wanted to check if there had been some cuts. Maybe it is best to watch the ones shown after nine in the evening.

I'm not sure what they would cut from The Devil Rides Out, though. It's a film that relies less on shocks and splatter than on a growing sense of unease. It's a little like another Lee favourite, The Wicker Man, in that respect, but without the nudity.

Compared to the rest of the reboot, it's a little more in spirit of the Trek we know, but the reboot still have a lot of growing up to do.

Really? Was there any feeling about the new Ceckov dying before the movie? A special mention?

I hope his last performance was memorable,
