Poor Captain Kirk. He is always being attacked by looney villians quoting Shakespeare saying "Kirk, we are old warriors" !!

Waltz With Bashir. It's about a man who fought in the Lebanon War in the 1980's. He has blocked out his memories of what happened, so he goes to talk to his friends to see what they remember. It's a documentary, but it's animated, and beautifully at that,I might add. Bashir was the leader of Lebanon at the time the war was being fought;he was killed during it, however.

That's the website for the movie in case anyone's interested.

Idiocracy. I DVRd it from Comedy Central, so it was cut to ribbons, but it's still a very funny movie.

Hancock
It was pretty good. Not great and not as bad as the critics said.

Let The Right One In .It's a Swedish vampire movie(yeah yeah,I know), but it works. And
Spoiler
the scene in the pool, where Oscar, the main character is held underwater by bullies but his neighbor Eli, comes to his rescue in a way that is amazing.
It's not particularly gory either.

It is not bad IMHO. The goody too shoes organizations was a bit much but the main story was ok.

We just watched Australia, I wouldn't bother watching it again. I don't know why they got Kidman besides she is Australian, a younger actress would be welcomed. The story was only so-so, I didn't know about teh aboriginal abuse or it lasting so long. Lord knows we did similar thing to the Indians.
The story really didn't go anywhere and the best part feels like ti was cut out. When they were in the desert facing deaths on the cattle drive. Man from snowy river and Quigley down under are better moivse to show off australia.
Jackman was great as drover, kidman left us cold. The main bad guy was all thqt threating and how he was ruined by his wifes death was never made real. I also never knew about the Japanese attacking Australia

Commando's a fun movie. I love the bit where Ahnuld tries to squeeze himself into Rae Dawn Chong's little car, almost wrecking it in the process.

Do they have giant "weapons supermarkets" in the US like the one Arnie robs in Commando?

No. Not where I am. Maybe in gun control crazy California it is different. ;)
The commando movies and terminator movies make it look like we can go to any street USA and find an arms bazaar that would make the military envious. :D
Commando is a fun movie, not much more than that. If you like guns fights and explosions it pretty cool. One thing I didn't get about commando was where that stupid little sea plane fit in and why they had to use it adn why the flight attendant had to be the one to fly it.

Oh by the way the "90% of guns in Mexico come from the USA" is a myth, hell not even 90% of the guns in the USa come from the USA

Day the earth stood still (2008).

I liked it well enough. It wasn't a bad movie but it wasn't brilliant either. Reminded me of matrix a few times.

A little bit preachy but it was fun with good effects.

I need to watch the original again to see how it compares.

State Of Play. It dragged a bit at the end,but by and large I liked it and I'm not much of a fan of either Russell Crowe *or* Ben Afflac, but both are fantastic in this,as are Rachel McAdams and Dame Helen Mirren.

It's a spy-ish thriller which is better than a lot of movies in the same genre *cough* QOS *cough*. Washington DC is used to good effect, especially a scene that takes place in a subway station.
