Black Dynamite! This is one of the most satisfying laugh-a-minute films, a hidden gem. Out of five bezants I give it a very solid 4.5! Made in 2009, but in the style (or lack) of Blaxploitation films ... similar cinematography, with a cool-great sound track (lots of wah wahts). Some memorable lines and scenes, such as boom mike intentionally left in the shot, a car exploding over a cliff (supposed to be two different cars, but it's the same!), a raid on KUNG FU ISLAND. Cheerfully politically incorrect, eg: Black Dynamite (his real name, even his mom calls him that) flashbacks to Vietnam, where he sobs and moans of a little kid, he keeps calling him "Oh, that little Chinese kid, I can see his little Chinese legs, swinging on the ceiling fan..." also, gratuitous nudity, BD wields a gleaming ..44 magdumb along with nunchucks. The star also co-wrote the screenplay, and hope to see more of his work.

Watched a movie on TV called Papadopoulos and Sons, about a Greek family living in London. I only watched it because I'm half-Greek myself. The film was OK, but nothing special.

Saw Creed last night. It was a risky move to continue the franchise, but it worked.

I watched Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley's Island of Dr. Moreau. Fascinating, as Mr Spock would say.

Re: The Last Movie You Watched
THE PIERCE in 'No Escape' .... about an American family (Owen Wilson, wife and two little daughters) in an unnamed Southeast Asian nation (filmed mostly in Thailand) and they find themselves in extreme danger just when they settle into their hotel. If you'll suspend belief, you'll enjoy this as a real knuckle-biter. There's one scene involving a roof which is one of the scariest things I've ever seen in a movie, because it involves little kids. Pierce is again excellent, and displays a flat stomach under a taut shirt (we will assume he was not holding his breath). Extra kudos to the older daughter, who is about ten, fine acting. Someone asked how could Pierce's character perform a near-impossible pistol shot? Another said, Why, because he's 007, of course! A simple story executed with relish. Four solid bezants.

So no escape was good. I'll have to fine a UV code for it.

Watched The Force Awakens on the big screen. I was a little miffed that it was shown in 2D - I had assumed that being on their premium sort-of-IMAX screen, it would be a 3D showing. As for the film itself. I agree that it was a whole lot better than the prequels. but
Spoiler
Abrams is still plagiarizing earlier films and calling it homage. Not as bad as the Wrath of Khan bit in Into Darkness, but when Han faced his son on that walkway, I groaned inwardly a little.

plagiarize the original trilogy to reset it the series to where everyone though it was in 1983. Also it was closer to the original Return of the Jedi before Lucas rewrote it. Even as a rehash of Star Wars greatest hits I thoroughly enjoyed it unlike 007 and Star Trek who rehash only to fail. Althou I am undecided about the Han moment with Ben. Much of how I think of this movie will be determined by the sequels and who Ray is. If she is not another Han and Leia offspring she needs to give the Wooike and Falcon back to his estate.
