I watched Star Trek The Wrath of Khan. A classic.

On the extras there was a piece showing how they adopted a navy look for Starfleet.

If any director did this kind of flick today we would see who the truck driver would be played by Ashton Kutcher and the protagonist would be some hot chick and he's harassing her because she dumped him in high school. You know, real crap. And it would have a random sex scene with them.

As for the real flick, not bad for a TV film!

I've seen Jaws yesterday night on TV. A definite classic with the most memorable shark theme.

Watched The Bridge to Terabithia on Encore yesterday. Pretty good, though I can see why it failed at the box office, as it was marketed as a Narnia-style fantasy when it was nothing of the sort. However, I will say that it reminded me of the first two Roger Moore Bonds in that it was a big-budget theatrical flick that had the look and feel of a TV movie. The money wasn't up there on the screen. Instead they wasted it on things like creating realistic-looking CGI squirrels, because there are no squirrels in New Zealand, where it was filmed. They should have just filmed it in my apartment complex - there's millions of the buggers!

I'd add that it also works best if (like me) you go into the film unfamiliar with the book on which it is based, or the previous film version (made for PBS). There's a plot point which is genuinely shocking - if you don't already know the story, that is.

Kristatos,I had to read Bridge To Terabithia when I was in grade school(!)and I remember being shocked by
Spoiler
leslie's death
. I don't know if they still require kids to read that book(I kind of doubt it since there is a generation of kids that were scarred for life after reading that book.

Vault Of Horror.

An Amicus British horror compendium film from the 1970's, with Tom Baker, Terry-Thomas, Denholm Elliot amongst others. Five people are in a London tower block lift, which goes to the bottom which contains a small club with a table containing drinks. They are locked in this lift, and tell each other their mysterious dreams.....

If you like camp cobblers from the 70's, then this is for you.

Planet of the Apes on TV (the original, not the crappy Burton remake).
