Some pleasant early reviews for UNCLE -

The Digitalspy review said
James Bond may have cornered the market in '60s-inpsired spy flicks, but director Guy Ritchie's The Man from UNCLE offers a fizzy antidote to 007's deep psychological probing of late

I read a few early review which were not very complimentary but today seems to have brought some good ones. And a rare snipe at Craig too (at Digitalspy).

Can Man from U.N.C.L.E. avoid The Lone Ranger's fate?

Cavill may have his hands full with Superman and the potential for a slate of Justice League films, not to mention batting off rumours about succeeding Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.

Nevertheless, the actor says another Man from U.N.C.L.E. film would suit him down to the ground.

Saw it last night. The plot could maybe have done with a couple more twists and turns, and it lacks that certain X factor that used (pre-Craig) to distinguish Bond from his imitators. But it is enlivened by some interesting directorial choices from Guy Ritchie. My favourite was the scene where

. And it is hard to watch it without thinking how great Henry would have been as Bond. Enjoy it, it's the closest we're likely to get. Shame that a sequel looks unlikely, unless the film does spectacularly well internationally. I would have liked to see more of UNCLE as an organisation, and Hugh Grant (who is starting to look very old, unless they used aging make-up on him) as Mr Waverly.

This was a nice fun lark. Wish it did better at the box office, but it's a heavy competition and Mr. Cruise ruled the spy genre for the Summer (which I enjoyed as much as this). Only thing I didn't like were the musical choices. Didn't feel like songs that naturally fit the characters, rather Guy Ritchie was trying to think of pop/R&B songs that Tarantino would have picked himself.
