I'm looking forward to it. Seen a preview of it and boy is it gruesome. I had deep reservations about Rocky Balboa, but Sly was on top form so I am optimistic that the new Rambo movie will be good.

Never even saw Rambo 3. It does give the lie to the anti-Brosnan argument that nobody would make a film about an aging action hero in this day and age, though (as do Indiana Jones 4 and Live Free Or Die Hard).

Believe it or not Rambo teamed up with the Taliban to fight the evil Russkies in that one. How times change!

Like Bond did in TLD you mean? At least the word "Taliban" was never mentioned, which is probably why TLD is still shown on TV and Rambo 3 isn't (at least I don't remember seeing it listed recently, but I'm sure someone will pop up to tell me that it was on last night).

I've just seen the extended classification information from the BBFC website and, call me squeamish, but this doesn't sound like a film I want to see.
RAMBO is the fourth film in the series that started with FIRST BLOOD. It sees the character of Vietnam veteran, John Rambo, return to rescue a group of missionaries who have been kidnapped by Burmese soldiers. The film has been classified '18' for very strong bloody violence.

The BBFC Guidelines at '15' state that 'Violence may be strong but may not dwell on the infliction of pain and injury' and that 'The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable'. RAMBO contains a number of scenes where there is a strong and detailed focus on the infliction of pain and injury, including sight of Rambo tearing open a man's throat with his bare hands and sight of Rambo disemboweling a man with a knife. The film's battle scenes also feature frequent gory sight of people being hit by bombs, arrows and machine gun fire, resulting in detailed injuries, blood sprays, bullet holes and limbs being detached. The bloodiest scenes, at the climax of the film, also rely on the audience's desire to see retribution for deeds carried out earlier in the work. This lends the film a sense of revenge that is also most appropriately placed in the adult category. The film also depicts the Burmese military using violence against civilians, including women and children, with strong bloody detail.

RAMBO contains frequent strong language and one use of very strong language, spoken by a hostage to his Burmese captor and intended to provoke him. There is also some implied but undetailed sexual violence in which Burmese women are abused by their army captors.

It certainly seems more brutal than the previous ones.

There's going to be Rambo V, and this I'm very skeptical about.
