The Long Good Friday

Post by The Sweeney »

Bob Hoskins in his finest hour. Superb gangster film, easily one of the greatest of all time.....and for all you Brozza fans, it features him in his first ever on-screen film performance.

He doesn't speak in the film, but if you have seen it, you know he plays a memorable scene in it. When I first saw it years ago, I actually thought he would make a good Bond. Shame the producers decided to ball his Bond films up.

Probably the definitive British gangster flick.
A must see rather than a highly recommended.

The Sweeney is a bit clueless when it come to James Bond films (  ) but he is right here. The Long Good Friday is simply one of the best British films ever. Where's Colin? Right that's it Sweeney, I'm going to get razors onto you.

The Mafia? I've s**t 'em.

"Nothing unusual," he says! Eric's been blown to smithereens, Colin's been carved up, and I've got a bomb in me casino, and you say nothing unusual?

I hate this remake nonsense. We have Escape From New York and Day Of The Dead remakes on the way too. Why do they remake all those Japanese classics as well? For people who are too stupid to watch a film with subtitles?

Two Japanese classics that were ruined by Hollywood are 'The Ring' and 'The Grudge'.

I think they are remaking The Hitcher too - with Sean Bean as the Rutger Hauer character.

The film is finished. I saw it a few weeks ago.

And yes, it is shockingly awful...
