Quite a few of us appear to know our films, although I could be wrong.

I thought about starting a thread based on what movies you own or would like to purchase.

My own DVD collection has surpased 350 movies. I enjoy films from a wide range of genres.

Do you own any special edition DVD's that you would never part with? and have you managed to capture a bargain or two?

Good idea, Skywalker...not sure how many films I have now, but it would certainly be interesting to see some of the lists or comments that other members have.

Watched the brilliant Shawshank Redemption tonight. It has to be in my top ten films of all time. Probably one of the best movies I have ever bought.

Shawshank is a great example of a short story turned movie. Its on my top 20 list along with Empire Strikes back and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

On the No homestead we have a staggering DVD collection. gotta be close to 300 dvds
The basics are the starwars movies, the original trilogy has a place of honor with the Indiana Jones movies.

action movies, comedy, romance, romantic comedys, kids movies

Comedies; Gostbusters, Evolution, Top Secret, Robin Hood men in tights (now on DVD),

Action; all the Die Hards, Lotr Trilogy, Jurassic parks, Aliens, the Matrix, Spiderman 1+2

Romantic; When Harry met sally, Sent of a woman, don juan demarco,

Kids movies; too many to bother with and a few Tvseries too.

Apart from the kids movies (We have yet to start raising little Skywalkers) that list looks very familiar to my collection with Mrs Skywalker adding her very own genre.

I also have a love of the vietnam war and gangster flicks.

I enjoyed the Valley of death scene. (Not in a sadistic way) but it showed the lack of planning and over confidence of the US forces.

I actually enjoyed the book more than the film.

Yes, it happens all to often. Especially when politicians get involved or the general don't listen to the guys on the ground who know what is actually going on.

Any particular reason for this bizarre fact Mr Stromberg?

I'm not sure. Maybe I still watch films on TV a lot, especially lots of rare films they have on. It's difficult sometmes to keep up with all the films on TV.

If there is a film that I want to watch I tend to download it on Bittorrent. I;m not sure if this is considered illegal. I watch it once then normally delete it, and I don't download a Cam version of a film which has just entered the cinema - and don't know why anyone would.

I have about 40 DVDs, so I suppose that's a lot.

TV box sets are great value. I have the Larry Davids and things like Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense.
