Brad Bird to direct Mission:Impossible 4

Postby Kristatos » Tue Jun 28, 2011 4:59 pm

From BBC News
Brad Bird, director of Pixar hit The Incredibles, is to helm the fourth Mission: Impossible film, its star Tom Cruise has confirmed.

"Everything's signed... Brad is doing it," the actor told Empire magazine, calling Bird "enormously talented".

The Incredibles was basically a Bond film in superhero drag, so it seems quite logical that Bird should graduate to a live-action spy thriller. Actually, it's quite logical that he should graduate to Bond, but as he's not a director of middlebrow, Oscar-winning dramas, that was never going to happen.
"The whole idea of the Bond films--and I don't know if they haven't lost a bit of that now--was that they were paperback films, as it were." - Peter Hunt

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol has Simon Pegg, I might see becuase he is in it. 16 December 2011 release another film for Bond to fear.
"Those were the days when we still associated Bond with suave, old school actors such as Sean Connery and Roger Moore,"
"Daniel didn't have a hint of suave about him," - Patsy Palmer

He was in the last one as well. Abrams must be a fan, as he also cast him as Scotty in Star Trek.
