Hitchcock Flicks

Post by stockslivevan »

IMO, when it comes to thrillers, no one comes close to Hitchcock's suspense. My top list of his films that I have seen (so far).

REAR WINDOW
THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH
STRANGERS ON A TRAIN
ROPE
NORTH BY NORTHWEST
LIFEBOAT
VERTIGO
PSYCHO
MARNIE

I've just rented NOTORIOUS so I look forward to a good viewing. :)

I've yet to see Marnie. I've heard it's a good one, and it stars Sir Sean.

You've missed out Frenzy, one of the greatest films ever made! With Van der Valk (Barry Foster) as the evil greengorcer Bob Rusk. Jon Finch - who should have played Bond - as Dick Blaney. And the great Alec McCowen as the policeman who has to put up with his wife's awful cooking.

North By Northwest, Rear Window, Veritigo, The Birds and Psycho are the most famous, I think.
Bring back Bond!

Favorite Bond Movie: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible, Kingsman: The Secret Service and The November Man or any upcoming actioners starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good since it will help him expand his reputation as an actor especially in the action realm)
Favorite Movies: Star Wars
Indiana Jones
Star Trek
The Dark Knight Trilogy
Harry Potter
Middle-Earth
The Matrix
Mission: Impossible
The Mummy
Jurassic Park
Godzilla

The Birds is the only one I've seen. Good stuff to watch.

North By Northwest was Ian Fleming's idea of what a Bond film should be like. By that token, I think FRWL comes closest to Fleming's vision.

1956.
I watched that recently on TV. I haven't seen the 1930s version, so I can't enter into the "which is better?" debate.
