I'm dubious about adapting Alan Moore books but this film is looking quite faithful.

Seems to be. I'm dubious too, given past form. LXG was not as bad as I was expecting given the panning it received, but it was still just a typical Hollywood comic-book movie. From Hell was dreadful. V for Vendetta was quite faithful, but still represented a dumbed-down version of Moore's work. I suspect Watchmen will be the same.

I was lucky enough to have lunch with an old acquaintance who strongly believes the 'Watchmen' legal battle is directly concerned with delaying 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Price'.

Nah, it's just a hold up. Fox delays by tying the film up in court for copyright reasons, Warner pulls out the checkbook hands over a blank check, Fox cashes the check. Viola! Movies back on.

Simple transaction is all.

Moving 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Price' gives Warner Bro. a stronger platform to negotiate from. They can pretend they don't care about 'Watchmen' and weaken Fox's postion.

If Fox is in earnest then Warner Bro. did the only smart thing by reposting their 2009 line up so 'Watchmen' MIA will not hurt the bottom line.
