I liked the Xfiles. Didn’t watch the end of the series after Fox left.

I don't watch the show but maybe a few episodes. The trailer looks interesting though.
Re: The X Files: I Want To Believe
I'll probably wait for the DVD.

Yep DVD rental for sure. We aren't spending much on going out to movies right now.
You know what I don't remember liking the original Xfiles movie that much but for the life of me I can't remember what it was about. Vague memory of a gooey spaceship but thats it.

Is it possible that this new movie would take the top spot this week?

It's a pity that the new X-Files is in 4th place at the US box office.

I wonder why this isn't #1 at the box office. Is it because of TDK or something else?

Re: The X Files: I Want To Believe
TDK played a small part but the real reason is they waited too long to make this film. It was six years since the end of the series, a decade since the previous X-Files movie. It should be something superb. Instead, is was something ordinary. It was sort of like an episode of the X-Files TV series, only not one of the really good ones.
If this had been released eight years ago it might have done better BO with the same story. X Files' core demographic moved on.
X-Files creator Chris Carter wanted to make a trilogy, jesus knows why, probably off the table as of right now. X-Philes combined worldwide barely managed to pay this film off.
A film that continues to surprise is Mamma Mia, $326,912,060 worldwide and #4 in the USA. I didn't think it had that kind of staying power.

This should have been made when the series was ended. It's a pity this wasn't #1 at the box office.

Re: The X Files: I Want To Believe
The reviews seemed to suggest it was like watching an extended version of the show rather than a big screen film.
