The boycott

Post by Captain Nash »

According to the homepage millions of Bond fans have been unhappy with the choice of Daniel Craig.
Though I'm guessing this is just a figure of speech.
But with the huge success of CasinoRoyale and the praise he's got from many Bond fans around the world I'm wondering, was the boycott worth it?
What was it really hoping to achieve? Did anyone really believe that Eon and Sony would drop Craig?
And what now? Will there be a further boycott for Bond 22?
Nothing will change because of this or any future boycott, it's fine to have differing opinions and I enjoy an intelligent debate.
I look forward to some intelligent replies.

Seriously, putting stuff like this on your web-page is just asking for a law suit from Sony and Eon; untill you guys can come up with some actual proof, I'd recomend you take it down. Shoot, the only things these guys did was help make it the most sucessfull Bond film since Live and Let Die.

admissions look like this:

To be frank, the United States only takes up about 29% of the franchise, and the films aren't a north American franchise anyways. In the end, it's about how it does in the world wide box office.

Personally speaking, I had a look at Casino Royale in the cinema a few times as the response pointed to it being somthing really special; I thought I would have to admit I was wrong about Craig.

I'm not sure I would want to watch Craig play Bond again. I wonder how many other people feel the same (don't list a page of links of CR box office data - I'm aware that it has done really well!). would this make me a "boycotter" of Bond 22. Probably. I'm sure you have chosen not to watch certain films at the cinema in the past because of the casting of certain actors/actresses.

Oh I wouldn't say that now. Let's look at the Jason Bourne movies for example. I wasn't too thrilled when I found out they got Matt Damon to play Bourne, but, I'm a fan of the novels and I saw the films. Or Tom Clancy's sum of all fears when they chose Ben Affleck of all people to play Jack Ryan, I still went to see the film, and I'll probably see the next one after that.

There are a number of fans unhappy that Craig is playing Bond, but whether that number is big or small who knows?, The numbers given on the main page of this site...
Tens of thousands of movie goers walked out of movie
theaters in protest.
Millions more made a strong statement by not going to the
movie at all... and also know millions of dollars were missed out on
because of their mistaken choice of Daniel Craig.
are unsourced, Where are these numbers from? Plucked from thin air most likely, I'd still like to see a source for these.

One start is Japan, so will have to search there. Some Japanese friends tell me that a lot of fans there don't like DC. Who knows.
You move very well for a dead man, Mr Bond
Kill him!
