Odd Bond dreams

Post by Kristatos »

This was inspired by a thread on a Doctor Who forum I frequent, in which people discuss their Who-related dreams. Well, I had a Bond-related dream last night, so I thought I'd start one here.

I dreamt that I was in a city centre (not sure where, exactly, though it looked suspiciously like Broadmead in Bristol) where QOS was being filmed. The area where the filming was taking place was surrounded by a wooden fence to stop people seeing what was going on, but people were looking over the fence to get a peek. Then, some big, scary security guards appeared and started nailing the wrists of the people who had peeked to the fence, like a crucifixion, in order to make an example of them. I asked a member of the crowd if that was legal, and he said that the security guards had absolute authority to inflict any punishment they deemed fit.

Anyone else had any strange Bond dreams?

Before GoldenEye came out I had a dream that I went to see it and it just seemed like a normal film (or like NSNA I should say) with no gunbarrel or anything. This dream sort of came true in the end in 2006.

Last night I dreamt that I saw the trailer for QOS 8) It looked pretty cool in my dream.

Reviving an old thread here, but last night I dreamt that I was watching QOS, and was surprised to find that Sherriff J W Pepper was in it. He was still played by Clifton James, looking exactly the same as he did 35 years ago, and kept making bizarre, fourth-wall-busting jokes about Bond not looking old enough to have been played by Roger Moore in 1973 and suchlike. It was very disconcerting.

Not recently, and I don't remember the old ones.

But my mother in law had a dream about being in small James Bond styled boat and chasing someone around and then being chased. Explosions rocked the water and then she was running and then she was back on the water again.

This was 2 nights ago and she hasn't watched bond movie in ages. She thinks the water was because, as most water dreams are, she nedeed to get up to use the bathroom.

I haven't had many, but I do remember two from a while back, both about the then untitled Bond 22.

In one, I was watching Bond 22, and the pretitle sequence contained Bond in a car chase that looked like something from a Need for Speed video game. Then he suddenly hit a jump, and went flying through a tunnel that looked exactly like the Casino Royale gunbarrel. That led into the credits, which were just like CR's except dark green, and for some reason the film was called Number 22.

The other I remember was from back when everyone was waiting for the title to be released, and a lot of people wanted it to be a remake of Live and Let Die (which i was strongly against). In the dream, the title was announced, and it turned out to be... Thunderball (my least favourite Bond movie). I wasn't very happy about it.

wow, you put a lot in to the names.

But your image of the opening credit gunbarrel sounds kinda cool.

I had a dream last night about a grey haired George Lazenby returning as James Bond in a remake of Octopussy! I was in a posh English seaside town and people kept asking me if I was going to watch this Octopussy remake.

I had an odd dream where I was in a shop run by Mr. Big. I was going to buy a shirt and a tie, then the hench woman started to choke me with the tie. All of a sudden John Sargent turns up and scolds the hench woman. Then I went to the front desk to buy the shirt and tie, then I saw a DVD collection so I got Skins series one and the Live and Let Die DVD. It then tuns out the DVD's were fake. So I then broke in and stole the DVD's again

I think this qualifies as a Bond-related dream.I was surfing the net and found out about a "Meet Barbara Brocoli" program that was going on nearby.I thought "I'd love to give her a piece of my mind!" Unfortunately I woke up before it happened :(

Last night I dreamt that I was watching Bond 23 with Craig. The pre-credit sequence was enormous fun, and gave me hope that the Bond films had finally returned to form, despite my reservations about Craig. But then things turned very nasty. There was a CR-style torture scene, and the rest of the film was about Bond taking revenge on his torturer, not by killing him, but by killing his entire family, culminating with his mother, a sweet little old lady who had no idea what her son did for a living. I was aghast, thinking "This is supposed to be the hero? Are we supposed to be rooting for him?". There's a shocking plot for you! Hopefully the real Bond 23 won't be anything like my nightmare version.

Don't know if you'd call it odd, but I dreamt an entire Bond pre-credits sequence last night. It was a little bit similar to TND's visually, but Bond's mission was to deliver a suitcase to this enemy camp somewhere in Siberia. He said it was uranium and that the contact should open it outside because of the radioactivity. When the guy opened the case, a bright green signal flare shot out and signalled three RAF stealth bombers to descend from the clouds and bomb the place to smithereens. Bond then tried to make his escape, but this big muscular henchman tried to stop him. The details are a bit fuzzy in my memory after that, but I remember Bond was in hospital and everyone in M's office was very concerned and had a live feed to the equipment monitoring his vital signs. They were pleased to see Bond's heart rate increasing. We then cut to the hospital and see that the reason for this is that Bond is in bed with a sexy nurse. M figures this out and gets on the intercom to him, shouting him down. Bond replies with some "keeping the British end up" style double entendre and the main titles begin, with a song performed by some hard rock band, quite atypical of a Bond theme, even the more rock-based ones like LALD or AWTD.

All this made sense in the dream. It makes less sense now, but I'm just reporting it as it was.

Sounds like a fun little pts sequence Kris. And what a fun dream.
Though the only question remains. Who was James Bond?

Funnily enough, that's not an easy question to answer. Dreaming is not like watching something on a screen. It was more like having a general impression that Bond was there than actually seeing a specific actor's face. When I did see him, it tended to morph between Connery, Craig and a sort of live-action version of Yaroslav Horak's Bond from the Daily Express comic strips (the latter being who I see in my mind's eye when I read Fleming).

Yeah, pretty much. Less the opening of TWINE than the scene where Bond infiltrates the base disguised as a Russian. Maybe an element of Goldeneye too in its snowbound setting, just to complete the Brosnan era.

I had an odd Bond related dream. I was in my English class and we watched the ending of O.H.M.S.S. and then we debated whether Bond really did love Tracy or if it was just an act. It was really weird.
