PB has a real edge in Goldeneye. For me it's his best performance.

Even though I like DAD the best, but I wouldn't call that an exit of Pierce's era.

Well Pierce doesn't play Bond anymore
So what would you call it.
For me GoldenEye is over rated. A decent action film, but not as great as some would have you believe. Certainly not a classic, but then we all have different opinions.
I'd say Brosnans best work as Bond was in TheWorldIsNotEnough. He tried to give the character a few new traits and the dialogue was imo better. Die Another Day he was just a cheeky playboy. I don't find that to be what James Bond is unless your under sixteen. But as I said we're all different.
TomorrowNeverDies showed potential, but was let down by a weak second half.
On the whole I always felt Pierce could've done better, but was never afforded the oppurtunity. And now he's too old to come back even if Daniel Craig pulled out of the role.

It's very hard to say as Brosnan films are in principle on the very similar high level. Unlike the other actors he doesn't have considerably weaker Bond film in his filmography (same situation with Dalton but he made only two flicks).
For his best outing I'd choose TWINE which is very dramatic, emotional and yet full of good action scenes. The film have introduced one of the most complex and complicated characters in the history of the franchise - Elektra and Reynard. Focusing on the psychological relations beetwen Bond and those duet was great contribution to the idea of Bond's humanity. It's especially worth remembering nowadays when it's said that only CR shows that Bond is real human being who suffers (not only physically) and pays the price for his adventures.

This is a difficult one as all his films stank to high heaven. How do you compare one piece of crap to another?

I'd say the first half of TND was his best, with certain moments from GE.

Do you really hate Brosnan that you call his Bond flicks crap? The only crap in Brosnan's Bond was the last half of Die Another Day. I don't really know what has gone in that ending. But the other three is good.

GE's good all throughout; TND could be good if only they haven't focused on too much action; and TWINE has the most well developed character among the other 3.
BOND sells, NOT CRAIG
The reboot is a risky area, did Eon need to do it? NO. Did this confuse alot of people? YES.
The Bond character will always be anchored in the values of the 60s

I don't think it is an exit. We will see his Bond again.
Not likely for eon or another official outing.
But Brosnan has his own production company and something to prove. He will do Bond again but his character's name will be different. Unless something new happens with Kevin McClory's estate.

That really would be something! But unfortunately I doubt it. Hope I'll prove to be wrong.

You really are clutching to the Brosnan as Bond thing too tightly Doc.
Pierce is gone, no more Bond for him. I'll put money on that.
And if it's not Bond he's playing but some Bond wannabe, then whats the difference to the Eon films he already made.

Hmm..now there's a thought. Maybe he and Tarantino will make the film they wanted to make in the first place - an R-rated period piece set in the 50's and featuring a tuxedo-wearing, martini-drinking British spy who is never referred to by name. They could even call it Casino Royale if they wanted, since (surprising but true fact of the day) there is no copyright on titles.

I'm only half-joking....

You have to remember that the Sweeney only likes four or five of the Bond films!

Brosnan could indeed make a "James Bond" style film.

Seeing as Craig was not really playing James Bond (and Barbara Broccoli is obsessed with Craig  ) I don't know why Eon didn't make a James Bond spin-off with Daniel Craig playing his character from CR. You could have this Craig character meeting the real James Bond in a corridor!

I only love four or five of the Bond films, but I like most of the others (big difference).

I can tolerate the weaker Moore/Connery ones, and a couple of Brozza's, but I despise DAD.

But I love all of the Bond novels too.....

GE is the best of the Brosna lot-- again-he did not have a good bit to work with during his tenure-so the real sad aspect is that we never got to see what Brosnan could have done with the right film...

Yes, but he did make four films.
If he hasn't found his mark by then, well he never will.
GE is probably his best, which means why did we have to endure three more after that. :P
