this film is so weird. it's okay, but it seems like a bad decision all around. still the fact that roger moore was still playing Bond at the same time, was a bad decision too. both actors were too old to be playing the part, unless it was to be the final film in the series and were killing Bond off. i do like the fact that Sean Connery's last appearance as Bond had him ending up with Kim Basinger. I can't think of a better way to end a career as Bond.

Well Eon always made it hard for anyone to make a rival Bond film. And with all the film rights in Sonys possesion and Kevin McClory no longer with us, I'd say the chance of a rival Bond film is most unlikely.Capt. Sir Dominic Flandry wrote:It would be nice to have a rival Bond movie in 2008.

Anyone seen the "Eonised" version of NSNA produced by "Blofeld's Cat"? It is re-edited with a gunbarrel sequence, a music score compiled from the EON Bonds, a Maurice Binder title sequence (taken from Thunderball) and other such touches to make it more Bondian. Sadly, he had to withdraw it due to legal pressures from Kevin McClory. I've seen clips of it and it was very cleverly done.

That would be cool. Is it around any more?Kristatos wrote:Anyone seen the "Eonised" version of NSNA produced by "Blofeld's Cat"? Like I said, pressure from lawyers mean it isn't. Either that or he pre-emptively pulled it due to the number of fans saying "oooh, you're gonna get sued". Can't remember which, sorry.Dr. No wrote:That would be cool. Is it around any more?

we will see. there seems to be a great deal of confidence in an actor who has only made one Bond film thus far.The Sweeney wrote:By Bond 22, the image of Bond for audiences of the 21st century will be Daniel Craig.......paco chaos wrote:especially if the rival film had an actor who actually looked and acted like James Bond.Capt. maybe. Lazenby didn't have that kind of support, and to be honest, I don't remember Timothy Dalton being embraced by that many people either.stockslivevan wrote:Kind of like there was for his predecessors?paco chaos wrote:we will see. there seems to be a great deal of confidence in an actor who has only made one Bond film thus far.The Sweeney wrote:By Bond 22, the image of Bond for audiences of the 21st century will be Daniel Craig.......paco chaos wrote:especially if the rival film had an actor who actually looked and acted like James Bond.Capt. NSNA was hamstrung of course; it was more than a little strange. The pluses (or at least the ones I remember) : the motorcycle, the lines "You shki verry well." "well, there was a girl in Philadelphia" .... A Felix who was more like Bond's friend, than his stooge. Fatima Blush.
Minuses : the music (if it had been Barryized it would have been a big plus)... the fight at Shrublands with Bond hurling his pee (worse tha the worse of Roger).
So so ... Domino. The original was better in all ways. Largo ditto. Connery's toupee. Most distracting, Commander!

Thunderball is just the way to go. Connery in his prime, John Barry, directed by Terence Young, ect. Never Say Never Again really is a redundant film by McClory who just wanted to make some cash out of all that he had connected to Bond, even wanted to make yet another remake in the 90s with Timothy Dalton. I think he let the whole Thunderball novel issue go too far. Now that he passed away, who can have the rights to SPECTRE? His family?
From what I understand, he never had the rights to SPECTRE, but he thought he did, and EON avoided using them in TSWLM and thereafter so as not to waste time fighting a lawsuit that they'd rather spend making movies.stockslivevan wrote:Now that he passed away, who can have the rights to SPECTRE? NEWSFLASH: I just went over to alt.fan.james-bond for the first time in a while (recently, it has been taken over by a couple of spectacularly unpleasant trolls) and the EONised version of NSNA is being offered again for download. Not sure what changed the guy's mind, I didn't really read it in detail.
