M after Dench...

Post by BondFan007 »

After Dench leaves the role, who do you think would be suitable to replace her?

I'd say David Suchet:

Who's played such roles as Hercule Poirot, Abraham Van Helsing and the British deputy Prime Minister.

Patrick Stewart would make a good M, especially if he played it similar to JLP. Bond would really annnoy him and I could imagine good on screen chemistry.

By the way, I thought having Dame Judi back for CR was a mistake. It was a great opportunity to introduce a new M.

PS has a huge acting range. His Ebenezer Scrooge is a favorite.

“I suppose you’ll want all day tomorrow 007..”

“It's only once a year sir.”

“If you ask me it's poor excuse to pick Her Majesty’s pocket.”
M slow sips his brandy as he considers the snowy picture of London outside his window then continues
“If I was to dock you a days wage you’d think yourself ill used. And yet you don’t think Her Majesty ill used when the tax payers pay a day’s wage for no work ”
:)

The next book could begin -Trevelyan was dead to begin with.
:D

I think Sean Connery would make excellent M. And what a return that would be!
- "Do I look like I give a d**n?"
- You don't. And that's the main problem.

I agree. Connery would be great, but I guess sir Roger Moore fits the role better. And what a funny dialogues would it be between him and Bond!

A former Bond as M. Could be interesting.

How about Colin Salmon as M?

If Robinson got promoted, wouldn't that make him R? And might that not cause confusion with John Cleese's R?

If Robinson took over from M he'd be M too wouldn't he, like when Admiral Hargreaves became M. Also, Cleese wasn't actually R, that was a joke by Bond. He was Q in DAD after all.

Yeah but they made that joke in CR didn't they.
I thought M was just a title I didn't know your name began with M.
One more word and I'll have you killed.
(Very badly remembered :?)
In a way Kristatos is right if they chose to do that way.
But I've always seen M (& Q) as the job titles with the person filling the post nameless.

It was actually "I didn't know it stood for..." before M cuts him off. Clever people like me who talk loudly in restaurants see this as deliberate ambiguity about whether the M of Casino Royale is Barbara Mawdesley or whether Dench is playing a different M.
