The picture at the top shows an incredible charisma Moore so effortlessly oozed.
We don't have actors like that anymore.
And the story about a guy meeting him twice is simply wonderful. I don't think any other movie star would behave like that.

Very saddened to hear Sir Roger Moore has passed away.

Well there was "Bullseye!" with Caine although I don't think that's quite the sort of movie you meant. It got slated but from what I can remember it wasn't quite as bad as everyone makes out, although that's not saying much. No Sir Sean though. I don't think Moore and Connery ever appeared on the same (fictional) movie or TV show (in one installment / episode), did they?

Roger Moore 1927-2017

Post by Goldeneye »

Roger Moore, the dapper British actor who brought tongue-in-cheek humor to the James Bond persona in seven films, eclipsing his television career, which had included starring roles in at least five series, died on Tuesday in Switzerland. He was 89.

I think we all knew he was an incredible man, reading these stories about him, his professionalism, his way of life, his kindness, it brings home what a great guy he was.
To me one of the things that speaks so well of him is he so far is the only Bond to bother to record commentary for all of his movies, I know that in today's instant streaming world it seems passe I don't think many realize it took a lot of time and effort on Roger Moore's part to do this.

Good buy Mr Moore, you will be greatly missed.

Yes, and I think it shows what is missing from the recent films - that sense of childlike wonder. Could you imagine a 7-year-old watching Casino Royale or Skyfall and wanting to be a spy?

Can you imagine that same story playing out with Craig?!

"Grandpa look it's James Bond!" Kid approaches Craig, "Mr. James Bond may I have your autograph?!"

Craig: "Piss off brat!"

I recall seeing a clip from the Ellen show on another forum where they had a young boy who loved the Bond films meet up with Craig. And to be fair, Craig handled the whole thing pretty well, so he can behave himself if he tries.

But overall, I still think Roger Moore is the most approachable of the Bond actors, especially for younger fans. His Bond was very universal and entertained fans of all ages, although some might consider that to be unacceptable because they feel Bond is not supposed to be for everyone and whatnot.

Well the Ellen show had to be planned out, on the street at random Craig seems to be angry at being recognized.

Roger Moore was probably the most approachable of the actors, the movies make them recognizable all over the world, Dalton had someone I think in Africa get made at him because he didn't drive A Aston Martin in real life, brosnan was at lunch with that guy from the twilight movies when he (Brosnan) was recognized by the people at the next table brosnan showed what's his face how to handle fame .

Roger Moore was a great ambassador for the series, he always was supportive of the actors in the job and nice to all the fans.

That's true. Craig could possibly be a bit more patient with younger fans, but who knows how he would react when he's not being filmed.

When I was in grade school playing on the playground Roger Moore was our Bond I think CBS just played the recent Bond movie before the next was released we were all reenacting parts we could remember the car going under water the gadgets stuff like this. He was still our Bond when Dalton get the role just because the TV movies roll out of Bond back then took longer. So many of us would stay up late falling asleep before the end credits talking all the next week about what we could remember of the movie. Looking back James Bond was an event as exciting as Disney Land at least through the eyes of a child.

James Bond is no longer an exciting event in today's world, and I don't think it will go back that way.

A look back at Roger's Bond on the 007 site with the predictable usual "fashionable" views of the series. The author criticises more for being old - "visibly ageing" - in A View To a Kill, so presumably he won't be watching the next Craig Bond movie!
