The Sony Bond dossier was tweaked to fit the Craig interpretation of Bond. Fleming's Bond backstory (although it did evolve in Fleming's Bond novels) is different and maybe points to Bond joining the 00 section much earlier than age 38.
I think Craig is more Royal Naval caterer than Royal Navy Commander.
Passen ze changen, danke!

The dossier is updated, and of cause it's tweaked to Craig's Bond, but it's still realistic for this day and age. Fleming's Bond went to Eton and got kicked out (same as dossier) then went to Fettes (same as dossier) and attended the University of Geneva (same as dossier), he joined the royal navy at 17 by lying about his age (saying he was 17) (wouldn't have happened when Craig's Bond was 17). Bond joined the service about 10 years later.maybe points to Bond joining the 00 section much earlier than age 38.
"Sony"'s Dossier is an updated version of:
The dossier in From Russia with Love
Bond's obituary in You Only Live Twice and
James Bond: The Authorised Biography.

And why wouldn't someone like Craig become a Royal Navy Commander?think Craig is more Royal Naval caterer than Royal Navy Commander.

You don't like Craig, but you'd have Cillian Murphy.Capt. Sir Dominic Flandry wrote:Daniel Craig could be a Royal Naval Commander. He would be Daniel Craig, odd-looking Royal Navy Commander; James Bond on the other hand is James Bond, the tall, dark handsome dashing Royal Navy Commander.
How about Cillian Murphy as a young Bond?
Another great actor, but not even close to being Bond material.

Not a bad shout Captain although Murphy looked a bit short in that Batman film (not that that stopped Craig being cast)

But Bond is not a superhero. It may be a quote from Craig, but it doesn't really carry any signifacance on his casting or your opinion.
Craig's comment was based around Tomb Raider. Required to play an adventurer/action type character he was all at sea and could have been arrested for that performance and his risible American accent. Angelina Jolie blew him off the screen with her charisma so in interviews later on he trashed the film and openly said he was crap at those 'superhero' type roles (i.e commercial action stuff) and was happier in small indie type productions. James Bond is a mythic superhero in the same way that Indiana Jones, Simon Templar, Sherlock Holmes, Alan Quatermein etc, etc are mythic superheroes. Bond is not a character from a Ken Loach film and in CR leapt around cranes and dodged bullets like Spider-Man. If you think this was realistic then God bless you.

Great Bond film? Yes.
Besides those were comments made six years ago. Times change.
So what's with the space location? Or is that spaced out?
Re: What actor would you have chosen as a young Bond
Never seen Sam Worthington in anything. But he looks handsome and has the height and physical presence to be Bond. At 29 he would have been a more convincing young Bond. He may have also lasted 6 or 7 films if he was successful. It seems BB & MJW won't have a Bond over 50 no matter how good shape they are in. Just ask poor Pierce. The usual 3/4 year gap between Bond movies means Craig may only last 3 films (thank god).carl stromberg wrote:If they made a Bond film with a young James Bond (Casino Royale does not have a young Bond - Daniel Craig is 40 and looks 50) which actor would be best for the part?
Sam Worthington would be my favourite at the moment; Karl Urban would also be an interesting choice.
Re: What actor would you have chosen as a young Bond
Alex O'loughlin maybe. He did a test at the time.

None. If the direction of the series were up to me, I wouldn't have deconstructed the series and character to a point where they are no longer recognisable. No reboot. I would have recast Bond, and brought the series back down to earth with a spy thriller fit to stand next to TLD and FRWL.

I agree. The more time that passes the more I see how right Cubby was to not redefine the character.Daltonite Toothpaste wrote:None. The shear volume of SPECTRE reviews (professional and otherwise) putting a nail in the Craig era and this reboot surprises me. Then I think back to the argument made by several smart people here about how the very idea of rebooting damaged the brand. It looks like it has and that people expect EON to not just make a better movie next time, they expect a complete retooling and new approach. Honestly EON does not have enough talent to live up to those expectations. If the franchise ever does die it will be because they mismanaged it to the point it collapsed under its own weight. Step one was the reboot and undermining the foundation that worked for 40 years (good and bad).

Craig was the perfect age at mid to late 30s.Bond should only be seen in his early 20s if he's shown in early years of his Navy years.I would go for an actor in their early twentiesI thought people were complaining Craig was too old? Owen is older than Craig.Clive Owen would be great.
Hi , actually HC is 32, which makes him the perfect age to play and run with Bond for a while. If i recall correctly Flemmings literary Bond ages from around 33 to 39 over the course of the Books . I for one am tired if old men being cast. Think back to the ages of Connery and Lazenby when they got the roles. I am all for an early thirties actor . And if its a relative unkown more the better.

Funny how the Craig fans said Brosnan was too old to be Bond at 49, and complain about Roger's lengthy run, but say Craig has "at least two more films in him".
Bring back Bond!
