What actor would you have chosen as a young Bond

Post by carl stromberg »

If they made a Bond film with a young James Bond (Casino Royale does not have a young Bond - Daniel Craig is 40 and looks 50) which actor would be best for the part?

Sam Worthington would be my favourite at the moment; Karl Urban would also be an interesting choice.

Sam Worthington? Wasn’t he hired before DC?

It's a tough choice, the wife likes james purefoy or eric bana.
Currently I think christian bale would be a good choice. gerard butler was the past choice.

Henry Cavill would have been bold although I suspect he is seen as Craig's eventual replacement.

Sam Worthington was very close to the part according to recent stories. He is a good actor too.

Clive Owen would be great.
If we are talking about a young James Bond, I would go for an actor in their early twenties. Got nobody particular in mind but Sam Worthington looks young enough, he could do well.

Alex O'Loughlin. He was in the mix and would have been a very bold piece of casting. He looks like James Bond too.

Sam Worthington is alittle young, Bond entering the 00 service should be about 35 at least. Henry Cavill? He's 23, that's far too young for Bond. Bond's a Commander from the Royal Navy, not some kid just out of University. Even O'Loughlin at 29 is pushing it for being too young. Craig was the perfect age at mid to late 30s.

Bond should only be seen in his early 20s if he's shown in early years of his Navy years.
Clive Owen would be great.
I thought people were complaining Craig was too old? Owen is older than Craig.

I thought they got rid of the Commander bit for a vague forces background. The SAS is alluded to in the film but not confirmed. If they didn't then the idea of Daniel Craig being a Royal Navy Commander takes some swallowing. That's like accepting that Roger Moore was a cleaner in a Tesco depot.

http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/casi ... /index.php a very interesting read that tells the background of the updated Bond. Confirms he's still Commander Bond etc. and shows exactly what I've been saying about a Bond in his 20s being far too young.

Why?

I like Purefoy too, but not for a young Bond. He is 4 years older than Craig (though he looks younger).

He doesn't strike me as the posh nautical type. Fettes is Scotland's most well-heeled public school and educated Tony Blair. I'm sorry but Craig isn't the public school type. He looks very working-class. Connery and Moore were from working-class backgrounds but they polished up a lot better than Craig onscreen.

That's one of the most absurd comments I've read on any forum

That's not saying very much for Fettes at this stage.

Again we share a difference of opinion.

I once read on a forum that Adolf Hitler was still alive and living in a secret base in the Antartic. That has to be more absurd than claiming that Danny Craig doesn't look like a naval commander. FACT! I mean in my opinion.

Maybe, but I hadn't read that claim :P I only go on Bond forums, so the absurd claims are limited. ;).

Oh, and it's a secret base in the Arctic, Mein Freund.

The notion that Daniel Craig doesn't quite ring true as a commander in the Royal Navy is a perfectly respectable one to float. The reason why he sparked a great divide between Bond fans in the first place is that some fans feel he lacks the refined looks that we have come to associate with the character and his history.

Sehr guter Punkt 007. Daniel Craig sieht nicht wie ein Marinekommandant aus. TATSACHE! Daniel Craig würde ein gutes Hitler meiner Meinung nach sein.

lol, I don't see it, he's 3 inches too tall (as apposed to being only one inch to small with Bond), he has the wrong colour hair and he doesn't have a Charlie Chaplin mustache.
