Daniel Craig's film career as Bond
Daniel Craig's film career during his (seemingly endless) stint as Bond has been very eccentric. He has gone long periods without making films, and many of the films he has made have been flops.

Correction: all the non-Bond films he's made have either underperformed or flopped.

Re: Daniel Craig's film career as Bond
I had no idea he did so few movies. I suppose i remember the 2007-09 movies and assumed he must be in more than I was aware of.
It's odd Connery, LAzenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan all knew Bond was typecasting so took as many roles as possible to broaden their possibilities. Moore did take a few deliberately lampooning his Bond, FFolks and Cannonball Run come to mind. Brosnan did too in a way with the Matador, he made that still when he was assumed to be coming back just to show a different side than the suave killer for HMSS.
The Matador and Seraphim Falls IMO show Brosnan had a far greater range then Bond producer allowed him. IMO his roles since 2006 are his attempt to do what Connery and Liam Neeson have done to redefine their careers half way though.

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

Re: Daniel Craig's film career as Bond
Still he doesn't get the recognition he deserves, and the general public still sees him as just James Bond and nothing more. With November Man, that could all change.Dr. No wrote:The Matador and Seraphim Falls IMO show Brosnan had a far greater range then Bond producer allowed him. I don't see how being thought of as James Bond is bad. Being type cast is bad but he is showing he still is relevant post Bond. I hope November man is awesome .FormerBondFan wrote:Still he doesn't get the recognition he deserves, and the general public still sees him as just James Bond and nothing more. I never said being thought of as Bond is bad. I'm just saying it's important for Pierce to expand his reputation as actor so he wouldn't be limited to just Bond to the general audience.Dr. No wrote:I don't see how being thought of as James Bond is bad. I hope it puts GE to shame or at least becomes the BB of Pierce's career.I hope November man is awesome .

Re: Daniel Craig's film career as Bond
Craig has picked quite a few duds. I only saw Defiance because of a history class.
My family did get The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo on DVD and I enjoyed that. I thought the Swedish version was better when I saw it on Film4 last year. I think there's going to be a sequel, so Craig should be in that.

I recall some history 'experts'/professors complaining Defiance was too inaccurate. However these people always find something to complain about.CaptainLewis wrote:Craig has picked quite a few duds. I only saw Defiance because of a history class.

I remember when we were watching it in class Craig's character got a horse out of nowhere. It was so obvious the teacher even mentioned it.Blowfeld wrote:I recall some history 'experts'/professors complaining Defiance was too inaccurate.
