I can pinpoint the exact moment I realised that wasn't going to happen to his delivery of the line "Holster the bloody weapon, Carter, we need him alive!" It just seemed so thuggish and un-Bond-like. By the end of the film, I was thoroughly depressed.

Yeah, in hindsight I feel foolish for giving Babz the benefit of the doubt for as long as I did, considering the long and storied history of the franchise I figured she had a plan, how silly I was!

Exactly this! When rumors came that Boyle resigned because they wanted to kill Bond, I said: "Must be the other way around, why would EON kill the character that is basically their raison d'etre?" I'm still not 100% sure Boyle left for that (only insiders said it, he didn't confirm), but how wrong I was! EON betrayed their regular audience, the fools that for years have been defending Bond's legacy over so many others like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jason Bourne, Marvel, etc. Bond is just a killable twat now.

Look at the poster above and you'll see why Time To Die is the ultimate insult to Ian, Cubby and Harry. And to us.
The media calls Mike and Babs "the guardians" of Bond. Ha! I wouldn't dream of leaving my kids with those guardians!

Don't worry, hindsight is always 20/20.

For some reason a NTTD clip popped on my yt... why the hell did we have to see Bond, THE James Bond carving an apple for his *ugh*... daughter? Can't believe I even wrote this sentence. If someone told me several years ago I would live to see a scene like this I'd probably call them crazy to be honest.

Yeah, you didn't know that in You Only Live Twice Fleming describes how Bond peels apples for Kissy Suzuki's son before fighting off Lyutsifer Shatterhand in his Poison Garden? It susprises me that everybody here anti-Craig trolls have missed the fact that in The Man With The Golden Gun Bond has another kid with Mary Goodnight and he calls for a missile strike to eviscerate both him and Scaramanga because he felt as a wicked assassin and he never had a reason to live but now he has a reason to die and Fleming said he wrote for the suffering humanity? :P

To be honest, my reaction to these is about 50% enjoyment, 50% bewilderment that you're actually describing a real film which exists.

Do you know what time it is?” Dr. Borat replies, “Vhat?” She continues, “Time to die.”

You know things have become stale when the writers literally copy a line written around 24 years ago, lol.

And I could have sworn that "history isn't kind to men who play God" line was in SPECTRE??

The line "time to die" is also from the 1985 Chuck Norris shlock fest Invasion USA.

The "men who play god" line is EON going back into the well from Dr. No, in that film Bond says, "Our asylums are filled with men who think they're Napoleon or God." You're probably thinking of the first time they rip-off that line in Spectre where Craig said "visionaries our asylums are full of them."

Well, it turns out I did hear it in the NTTD trailer but promptly forgot I ever watched it
There's this morbidly curious part of me that wants to watch the film but on the other hand I am aware watching it will take up three hours of my life I'll never be able to get back.

And it's used a couple of times in Blade Runner, released in 1982.

Once again, thank you for slogging through this thing so that we don't have to. Pour yourself a vodka martini, shaken, not stirred. You've earned it.
