As for the song, well... It's pretty much what I've expected from Billie the Master of Whisperers.
LMAO at listen before i go being a suicidal opus. Otherwise I would not laugh at something like depression but she is just so aritificial at pretending she is deep and sad I can not help but laugh.
Good point about the posters, they have had posters featuring women alone since SF, but they are buried so far down in the promotional campaign nobody ever notices them. Of course like you I would never laugh at someone's emotional demons but as you say she's so over the top in her persona it had to be pointed out.

Sequels in 2017 and 2019 would have made it to the screens kept the franchise moving and got us a new bond to boot. But she makes enough up front to be satisfied with her take and willing to do nothing for five years.
Babz' heart just isn't in this film series and only begrudgingly continues it because it's the only way to pay the bills, The Rhythm Section proved that. She also makes more than enough money from selling ad space in the films and branding special editions of items like watches etc.

JFK was had the same kind of drugs in his medicinal treatment, 1950-60s it was considered safe. Actually I think it goes back to ww2 everybody was doping their front line special forces soldiers. We do the same today, the elite SOF guys get some s**t you wouldnt ordinarily think of them getting. USAF pilots are on some serious s**t too. There is a line soldiers cross to keep alert on the battle field under extreme conditions.
Hell Taliban and al-Qaeda are high as F-k and they keep the supply going to keep those jokers juiced to keep volunteering getting slaughtered.
Some of the s**t that happened in Somalia during the 1990s was a precursor, actually It was the same groups involved in later with the war on Terror. Somalia mission went to s**t because there was truck loads of terrorist getting their fix exactly when us military planed a mission. No ground intel just pentagon brass in a building looking at satellite pictures thinking “yeah this will be easy”. Everyone who knew the area knew when these guys came to town to get high.

Anyway back to Bond.
In the 1950s it wasn’t considered anything abhorrent. The fact Craig thinks it’s bond trying to numb his sole is so off base it’s be funny if he weren’t ruining, I mean running bond.

My point exactly Big O, A man lost in his own world with no context to guide him, much like today's cancel culture "you made a joke 20 years ago I don't agree with today? Begone with you, no consideration for context!"

While I otherwise enjoy Waller-Bridge's work she's about the last person out there I would hire to write anything for a Bond movie. Then again she is THE hot stuff now plus a woman (a female writer!!! How shocking) so.. Eh.

New rant, let me know what you think, good, bad or ugly. Letting me know what you like or don't like helps me improve!

Good, definitely good. Though wearing my editor's hat, I should point out that the phrase is "to all intents and purposes", not "intense". Having said that, if that's my only complaint about the piece, I'd say you're doing pretty well!

d**n good DB!
I argued with the Craig zealots at the time about so much of the terrorism plot and poker game not making sense. It was a desperate attempt by eon to make bond relevant to the Jason Bourne new world after 9/11 nevermind dad was a 2002 film.

I never put together the differences in Fleming’s Vesper Vs Babs, I was too caught up in debunking this is the love that bond loses which makes him become the bond we know and hate (according to Craig and Babs at the time), I missed the difference in the magnitude of psychopath Babs vesper had, she basically was a rewrite of Rosemund Pike’s frost with the exception that vesper supposedly ends her life to avoid, I mean save bond. At least Miranda frost owned being a traitor in mi6 relishing the role.

An interesting rant, DB. I'll have to give Casino Royale another read sometime soon as it was many years ago I read it. You made a good comparison of the two characterizations of Vesper. It's funny that they wound up making her less plausible in the movie, I guess in trying to bring her up to date.

It's not quite all fixed by the way Benny as where it says "betraying their county" I think you probably meant "country".

Now as usual I've got about another 30 of your rants to catch up on. Keep it up!

Thank you kind words as always Acid  and thanks for the edits (you never heard of betraying your county? :happy spin: ), that's why I need the feedback from you folks!

I noticed the discrepancy between the characters two years ago while listening to the audio book and I forced myself to watch the film again when it was on TV recently, the attempt at a strong independent woman portrayed on film really stood out, creating a character totally out of sync with her circumstances.

I was always bothered by Vesper's remark how she isn't Bond's type since she happens to be "smart" to which he replies:"No, single."
Ohoho, Bond apparently only likes dumb women since who else would sleep with a man so easily ohoho.
That also applies all the previous Bond girls were dumb, yet another jab at the Bond films of yore.
Not only does it come off as somewhat pretentious, it comes off as something a 15 year old girl on Tumblr would write. Not quite the thing they were going for I expect.
