Re: POLL: Your favourite 80s theme song?
A View To A Kill is my most favourite Bond title song, and I doubt it will ever be topped at this rate. The 90s title songs weren't too bad, but since Die Another Day, I just haven't found the title songs to be all that great. For Your Eyes Only is my second favourite.

I voted for The Living Daylights, but I really like A View To A Kill as well.
I'm not very fond of the rest of the 80s songs though.

There were some classics in the 80's; I voted for All Time High.

Once I'm back on a laptop I'm going to vote for living day lights and license to kill. Dalton is one of my favorite Bonds so his songs I've always liked.
I watched a few minutes of daylights and goldeneye the other day it's depressing to think what bond movies became.

Re: POLL: Your favourite 80s theme song?
You can only vote for one song this time though.
The poll with two votes was for pre-credits scenes 1977-1987.

I don't find there's much correlation between how much I like a movie and how much I like its theme song, though. I voted for AVTAK, despite it being near the bottom of my list of favourite '80s Bond films.Omega wrote:Once I'm back on a laptop I'm going to vote for living day lights and license to kill. because it's music styles I wouldn't ordinarily like that I do because I watched the movies countless times associating the music with the good feelings for the movie.Kristatos wrote:I don't find there's much correlation between how much I like a movie and how much I like its theme song, though. Lame in its own way I guess. There's got to be some ass clown saying the same thing about the crappy Craig songs for the same reason.

That's another example - I actually like 2 of the 3 Craig themes (it would have been 3 if they hadn't stupidly rejected Dame Shirl's No Good About Goodbye in favour of that crappy Jack White thing).Omega wrote:

I like View to a Kill better. Gladys Knight + A-ha is veyr good too, my god looking at the videos they are embarrassing as hell. it'll be nice in 20 years when people look back at Miley Cyrus + Bieber and can laugh about it.
Hows about Miley Cyrus for the next theme song?

Re: POLL: Your favourite 80s theme song?
TLD is may favourite theme from the 80's. Conversely, my "all time" least favourite of all 23 themes is All Time High from Octopussy. I also agree with Kristatos about You Know My Name and Skyfall being decent themes. As a kiwi I would love it if Lorde could sing Bond 24's theme.

Re: POLL: Your favourite 80s theme song?
I'll be the oddjob man out: All Time High is my favorite of this list. Since I like to have a run at the piano now and then, this is a excellent John Barry that grows better with the years. I'm speaking about it as a song, and not as how (and by whom) it was originally sung; possibly if a different singer had been involved, it would receive moore votes. It's a great 'lounge' song, to play in the background of a dark club, as Cmdr 0077 accompanies a suave torch singer The melody and the transition into the chorus is classic Barry, reminiscent of his DAF background when Bond meets Tiffany Case in her boudoir. (And btw doesn't he mis-pronounced 'exquisite'? My second choice is The Living Daylights. Again, I'm voting for its musical impact, and the fun it is to play on the keyboard -- and it's great fun to really crash it! I can play these two again and again, although I rarely listen to the original songs (yes, blasphemy, I know).

Licence to Kill is one of my favorites, simply because its a homage to the Goldfinger theme.

Re: POLL: Your favourite 80s theme song?
I think the real Goldfinger song tribute was K.D. Lang's "Surrender" from the credits of Tomorrow Never Dies. Apparently it was written with intention of being the intro credits theme to TND but was changed at the last minute.
I'm very surprised FYEO has had no votes yet. It's my second favourite 80's song and was even nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
