What if Brosnan played Bond from 1986 until 2012?

Post by jorgem »

It was in the 11th hour when Brosnan almost got the James Bond role but he lost it to Dalton, due to his contract to Remington Steele. Could you imagine if Brosnan started Bond in 1986, from TLD, LTK, up to Skyfall, (even the canceled 1991 Bond film TPOAL)? We've imagined if Sean Connery played Bond until 1985. So we have only two long Bond eras in the franchise. Sean Connery (1962-1985) and Pierce Brosnan (1986-2012), that's alternate Bond history!

If Pierce was born in 1958, that would have been reasonable for him to last up to 2012.

Brosnan would be too old by mid 2000.Lets say he did get TLD at 34 he could of played a re-grounded Bond at the start of his 00 status and played a believable Agent ending his career in 2012 at 59.Skyfall would of been better with him in it same script as it is now.Problem I see is I don't think Connery and Brosnan would care much about the job 6 movies in.

Brosnan as Bond from 1986 to 2012? That would have been hell itself. I prefer Daton 1987 to 1998, Purefoy from 2000 to 2008 and D'Arcy 2012 ongoing. :D

That would have been awesome, Brosnan totally got screwed by NBC when they let him know on Day 60 of his 60-day Remington Steele option that they wanted to renew the contract. Total BS. He was all ready to go as Bond. Thank God it worked out eventually, but I really would've liked 2 more Brosnan films, whether they be before or after his actual tenure. What does TPOAL stand for? (cancelled '91 film) Do you know what it would have been about?

That was the planned remake of Thunderball during the '70s.

Once again, it all depends on whether Brosnan would have enough interest to stay in the role for that long. Some actors just don't want to be typecast, and look for other opportunities to further themselves. Unlike Craig, Brosnan's film career outside of Bond is a lot better, so he wouldn't need to heavily depend on Bond.

I'm fuzzy on the details we talked about the could of been Bond movies years ago and Property of a Lady came up, apparently there were going to be robotic sharks,

Um there was a lost Connery film with sharks too

Would any actor have come back after the six year break? I know Craig would come back after a six year break if Barbara was in charge.
Bring back Bond!

I believe that The Property of a Lady should be released somewhere in 1992, in order to coincide the 30th anniversary of the franchise.

Brosnan and his wife goes to a cinema to see Skyfall. Brosnan looks like a 70 year old.

Exactly 10 years ago when Die Another Day premiered in the US, on November 22, 2002.

He doesn't even look his age in that, 70 years old if its Dick Clark.

I don't know they never did a anniversary movie before 2002, it doesn't seem to be something Cubby did. How did they miss 2007? That's a easy one. First time they missed a year with 7 in it.

Well, he looks about 60, which he is....I guess he looks a little older than that in that shot.

What's Craig's excuse

But Brosnan at this age playing Bond at the end of his career would be interesting.

Aside from Bond, will Brosnan continue is narration role for Thomas the Tank Engine? He did Thomas & Friends: The Great Discovery, but he was a guest narrator. He should replace both Michael Brandon and Michael Angelis.

But out of all the bonds he would be the most interesting to be the one who survives it all to retire.
