I read that Mel Gibson is only 5 ft 8. Way too small. Australian as well. He also claimed he turned down the role in the 80's & 90's. I would have liked Lewis Collins in the 80's. With slicked back hair and a bit more muscle he would have looked great. Women used to camp outside his house such was his sex appeal. Alas it was decided a more human, emotional Bond was needed after Moore. So Dalton got the job. Brosnan should have got the part in 86. Apparantly Cubby Brocali did'nt want Brosnan playing Bond at the same time as he was starring in Remington Steel. However Brosnan only had seven more episodes left before his RS contract ran out. No wonder Brosnan was so upset. After Brosnan, Butler & Owen would have been great in . There was no way big stars like Bale & Jackman will take the role. So we got lumbered with you know who.FormerBondFan wrote:What about Mel Gibson?
Which actors should have been Bond?
No, it wasn't Broccoli that didn't want Brosnan, it was the network who renewed his RS contract so they could have the option of another season. An option they then declined to take. Bummer for Brosnan, but unlike you, I don't see Dalton (my second-favourite Bond after Connery) getting the role as a downside.adam wrote:Apparantly Cubby Brocali did'nt want Brosnan playing Bond at the same time as he was starring in Remington Steel. I'm always amused that many people who call themselves Bond fans don't seem to like half the series. I know some people like them all and are just trying to be critical and suggest improvements, but some people genuinely hate the Dalton films/Brosnan/Lazenby/John Glen etc!
I had no complaints with the series (i.e. i hated certain actors and films) - up until they cast probably the only actor currently working who would make Bond unwatchable....!
