Really enjoyed watching it. I think I might even rate it as PB's finest Bond performance although not his best Bond film.

What do you think?

TWINE is my favourite Brosnan Bond film. I think it was pretty good with one or two quibbles.

TWINE is very good IMO. But I think DAD has his best performance. The shame was that the DAD story and direction wasn't up to Brosnan's vision.
TWINEs Bond killings were cold blooded, Q's last stand, bringing the MI6 computer system it up to date in line with the new books.

I liked Bond seducing his way in to active duty, had Connery feel to it.

PB was more convincing and had an edge to his performance that I felt was missing in TND. I understand your point regarding DAD. PB certainly seemed more comfortable especially in the first half of the movie, but his all round performance in TWINE seemed better to me.

Is NATM worth watching? I enjoy Ben Stiller movies as they are generally funny and lighthearted.

Yes it is, if you want funny and lighthearted it will deliver and then some. My dislike of it is because it copied some other better movies (i'd rather the kids watch). But it is fun. :)

It was okay, but there were too many action sequences, the helicopter saw blades have to be the most redundant piece ever. All Bond had to do was ask a question and suddenly it is interrupted by that. Pierce Brosnan couldn't decided if he either wanted to be Timothy Dalton or Roger Moore and so we were given a very inconsistent performance by Bond. One minute he is cold blooded the next he's in Roger Moore mode using gadgets and one-liners.

It even felt like a bad John Glen film for the 90s, hence the director being less than enthusiastic about helming a Bond film.

I have to say, Denise Richards never really bothered me. She gets too much flack when Tanya Roberts is the one that truly deserves it. I never had the impression Bond was in love with Elektra. There was just not enough development. Suddenly they are in bed before we're even in the middle of the film and I'm suppose to believe that they are lovers? Sorry, it doesn't work that way. That's why the action pieces were uneccesary, we could have had more development than pointless action that never moved the narrative.

I will say this is Pierce Brosnan's second best Bond film, but when you have Tomorrow Never Dies and Die Another Day in the competition, that really doesn't say a lot. It tries to be something like Casino Royale but because of the producer's fears of people not liking an actual Bond film, they made the film just another safe action fest and the film doesn't really mesh with the drama mixed in.

6/10 - Average at best.

Well said stocks. TWINE tries to be to many different things. And never really manages any of them.
Possibly Brosnans best performance after GE, and easily his second best Bond film after DAD  ...I mean GE.

I need to watch this one again, since it's been awhile, but when I saw it at the theatre I really did not like it much at all. Denise Richards is one of the worst Bond girls ever, with Eva Green running neck and neck. and I thought Elektra King was one of the worst Bond villians. I wanted Bond to kill her as quickly as possible, and the scene where he hesitated to do so, really irritated me. I did like the theme song, and thought it was one of the best ever. the opening sequence was so cool, but I thought it kinda went downhill from there.

To be honest Paco, I didn't mind either of them. There are far worse Bond girls IMO.

I thought Sophie Marceau did a fine job. I really got the impression that she was the type of girl who got everything yet desired much more. A convincing performance for me.

I actually consider it to be one of the worst.

well, we are gonna have to disagree on most of this. but I will try and watch it again soon.
but I love me some Garbage, so I'm biased on the theme song.

I thought Robert Carlyle was rather good. Now that someone who looks like Daniel Craig has been cast as James Bond, maybe Carlyle could play Bond.

It tries to be something like Casino Royale but because of the producer's fears of people not liking an actual Bond film, they made the film just another safe action fest and the film doesn't really mesh with the drama mixed in.
Al least TWINE had James Bond in it! I think that CR had all the contradictions and flaws that many people see in many of the other Bond films, and they will be debated more in future years.

I just rewatched this movie last night. I enjoyed it to a point, but I still say Denise Richards is one of the all time worst Bond Girls ever. just watching her attempt to spout technobabble is one of the most uncomfortable things I have ever seen. I also don't like how gullible M was, much less Bond. Carlyle was a decent villian, Elektra was so-so. I hated how they killed off Robbie Coltrane in this one, but it was a decent scene. at least Bond did put a bullet in Elektra, but I still say he should have done it when he returned from the pipeline, and saved himself the trouble of doing it later.

I dunno, I thought Bond's "Christmas comes once a year" line was more cringe-inducing. But I agree that Ms. Richards was the second-worst piece of miscasting in the series' history

My major complaint about TWINE is the damp squib ending with Bond and Renard fighting in the submarine. Overall though I like the film and think it is underrated by fans. You can nitpick it to death but then you can do that with most Bond films, Casino Royale included. (Bond running through a wall indeed...)

It was mildly tiresome.

This one is definitely underrated.I just like to pretend Richards wasn't in it.Aside from that,Marceau is truly incredible as Electra,Brosnan gives his best performance and Judi Dench is well...Judi Dench. We have some really great dialogue and some truly magnificent scenes.Bond killing Elektra and then touching her face-has to be one of the best moments in the entire franchise, even if the end of the movie pretends that never happened. It's like producers feared we won't know this is a Bond movie if Bond in the end isn't with the girl...this movie is a character-driven one, with a subtext and reasons why everything is the way it is.So ever-so-terrible Richards as nuclear scientist doesn't really have a place here.Someone must have been drunk when they were casting Richards or even throwing Christmas Jones into the story.  But,this movie is intelligent, apart from the Christmas Jones thing which is just incredibly stupid.
If only there wasn't for Christmas and Richards...
