Which is best: TND or TWINE

Richards was awful for some reason she was considered a good get. Hatcher in Tnd was another I wonder about but she is d**n cute . Tnd twine dad were some of the few times bonds female costar audience was considered. Imo in each of those movies the female stars popularity in the usa was a factor

Wasn't Monica Belucci considered for the role of Paris in TND?She,IMO,would have been much better.Way more attractive, really beautiful and has that italian charm. She would be great.HatCher,on the other hand, wasn't much better than Richards in the terms of acting. And she's neither particulary attractive(IMO).She has that "soap-opera" vibe to her that I just do 't think it's good for a Bond movie. And Halle...oh,lord.How iritating was she in DAD.It's obvious they got her because she was at her peak of fame with Oscar nomination and everything.

I remember an interview where Brosnan said he was hoping Monica Belucci would get the Paris Carver role; and in another report, she was supposedly on the short list. But the powers-that-be opted for Terri Hatcher because, at that time, her photo with the Superman cape was an Internet download hit.

And now Belucci is Daniel Craig girl... why they didn't give her a role is beyond me. Tacher really doesn't seem like a woman who Bond would have some history with. Belucci on the other hand more than fits that mold. She fits it perfectly.

TWINE for me.
"Dalton makes an effective Bond - lacking Sean Connery's grace and humor, and Roger Moore's suave self-mockery, but with a lean tension and a toughness that is possibly more contemporary" - Roger Ebert

P.Brosnan wrote:My favourite would have to be The World Is Not Enough, since it's my second favourite bond-film after Goldeneye.
It has a very interesting characterization of James Bond and of course the wonderful characters of Elektra and Renard, even the return of Valentin Zukowsky. After the fantastic GE and the solid, but a little to much of just a straight action picture, TND, TWINE showed what could be done within a James Bond-film. Why they didn't use this as a starting platform to develop together with Pierce Brosnan for Casino Royale, i will never understand. TWINE shows how a modern and more complex bond-film should be made, without losing the character of James Bond or the uniqueness of being a bond-film. :spy:
I agree about everything especially the last sentence. It was more complexed and character driven story but it still felt like a Bond movie. That's why I like it so much.Of course Denise Richards and generally the character of Xmas was fatal mistake. They casted her obviously thinking the movie would go better on American ground but in fact with the critics it did far worse because of it.Most of this movie's reputation is based around Xmas but if you look past that you'll find one of the most intelligently made Bond movies.
I still wonder though, did Richards blackmail someone to get the role. I simply cannot understand for the life of me how can anyone create the brilliant character that Elektra is and cast Richards in any role other than a school cheerleader is beyond me. It's like Apted got stoned at one point..

1.WHY IS THAT A BAD THING?
2.WHAT IS WRONG WITH ELEKTRA BEING STRONG?SHE IS BY FAR THE BEST FEMALE CHARACTER IN THE BOND FRNACHISE.AND SHE'S NOT JUST A BOND GIRL.
3.RENARD IS NOT MAIN VILLIAN.HE DID WHAT HE DID BECAUSE HE FELL FOR ELEKTRA.

Carver was IMO over-the-top and somehow cartoonish but hey since he wasn't in a movie that is memorable as GoldenEye they had to make him somehow memorable.

When you look at it just about every villian had some over the top plan. The only movies that were actually quite down-to-earth in terms of plot are FRWL(IMO the best Bond movie,it's absolutely brilliant),For Your Eyes Only and The Living Daylights(good, but far less memorable).Carver's plan is actually quite good and I like it but when I watched it recently I was somehow underwhelmed. Is this maybe the movie that gets better with each viewing?

FYEO is Moore's best,I agree but then again that's not saying much, aside this one and TSWLM who works despite having "Moonraker" plot every other movie is just...not worth repeating viewings. They are silly and fun but are just that.I think that TMWTGG had a huge potential.World's greatest assassin wants to go hunt James Bond?Brilliant.Sadly the rest of the movie just seems silly and quite unnecessary.I agree that TLD is Dalton's best, but heyhe made just two movies. It has some nice touches but the plot isn't the clearest thing in the movie and the Bond girl is far too girlish although it seems sweet during the movie.Again, these are good movies IMO but I just don't find them to be that memorable.FRWL on the other hand has great down-to-earth plot and is memorable so...I think it's the best Bond movie.Yes,better than Goldfinger.
