it may be a good movie, but it does feel like a lot of apologists are trying to virtue signal.

Victoria Alexander's review from filmsinreview.com proves my point :!: : Bloated with every trope in the genre, too long running time, lack of investment in the villains and Jon Snow dies not once, but twice. With the #OscarsSoWhite controversy and the lack of diversity in mainstream movies and TV being recognized and addressed, its risky to criticize BLACK PANTHER. I have seen the sea-change. Black actors and actresses are being hired. They are being represented on TV series and in films. The New York Times headline was “Why ‘Black Panther’ is a Defining Moment for Black America” might well be a true statement, but is it a good movie? A big-budgeted studio film about a black action superhero with a nearly all-black cast is a huge step forward. However, I owe it to my readers to give my honest opinion about BLACK PANTHER. I am not intimidated by fear of being called a racist because I did not like BLACK PANTHER. :hair:

I saw the trailer and it didn't make me want to see it, I must confess. But I do recognise what a milestone it is, and I wish it success. If nothing else, it paves the way for a future in which a blockbuster movie with a mostly black cast is unremarkable enough that people can have an honest discussion about its merits without fear of being called a racist if they didn't like it or a virtue signalling SJW if they did.

Black Panther has outsold all previous Marvel Cinematic Universe advance ticket sales. Black Panther set records this morning, selling more advance tickets in its first 24 hours than any previous Marvel Studios movie, edging out Captain America: Civil War for the crown. Fandango managing editor Erik Davis announced the record-setting sales on Twitter.

Well, can't argue with that. Whether it has legs is another matter.

Black Panther‘s previews are reporting $25.2M this morning. This is the second best Thursday ever for a Marvel movie after Avengers: Age of Ultron ($27.6M) and some nickels above Captain America: Civil War ($25M). Among pre-summer releases and their preview nights, Black Panther ranks second behind Batman v. Superman ($27.7M). Already, according to Fandango, 61% are considering seeing Black Panther a second time...........A bulk of advance tickets have been purchased by churches, youth groups, fraternities, sororities, and student groups as they celebrate the first major Black ensemble blockbuster on screen. There is a viral crowd-sourcing effort that has taken place called the #BlackPantherChallenge — which allows kids to see the movie for "free". :hair: Frederick Joseph, a New York-based philanthropist, launched the crowd-funding initiative last month to raise $40K and help children in Harlem see the movie. The challenge fueled 400 GoFundMe drives that have raised over $400K. Donations have arrived from J.J. Abrams, Chelsea Clinton, Viola Davis, and Ellen DeGeneres (who pledged $10K to the Boys and Girls Club of Harlem).

it’s a very good start but the movies that match show a good start can fizzle later.

I get a lot of people being excited about the first major motion picture featuring black stars and story taking center stage. It will mean a lot especially to kids. I doubt it’s a big a moment as some want to say, imho if it’s not a good movie no matter how much praise it gets it’ll fall on its face.

Dalton looks classy, Connery could go smoking hot or classy, Brosnan looks underage which he did look very young for a long time.
Lazenby and Moore don’t translate was well, but I wouldn’t say ugly. Moore looks like young picture of somebody’s grandma.

Craig, ok they fix a great many problems with his face, in her face Craig still looks she has trouble with drugs and has a arrest history of violence.

An Australian woman — whose experience was documented anonymously in a published case study — had experienced sudden and severe episodes of illness for nine years. She'd get nauseous and a feel like the room was spinning, which was followed by violent vomiting and severe stomach pains. As it turned out, she had a mysterious syndrome that doctors are only now beginning to recognize. Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, or CHS, appears to occur in people who use marijuana frequently for years. Aside from quitting marijuana, there are no known treatments. Several liberal USA states want this poison legalized for recreational use :!: :cuss:

I have mixed feelings about that. I hate smoking of any kind, but at the same time, I'd rather the police were out catching rapists and murderers than some kid smoking a funny cigarette.

The 'funny' cigarette to children can lead to addiction. Where are the long term use on brain health studies?
