Precisely Kris, there'll be a lot of, "I didn't like it the first time" syndrome going on. It's one thing to see a film that came out 30 years before you were born on the big screen, it's entirely another to revisit a film you saw in the theater 6 months ago.Kristatos wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 5:59 pmI do wonder how many takers there will be for this. NTTD has already been re-released twice in cinemas since its original theatrical run, to little effect. And even putting aside the quality of the films, with this re-release of all the films in order, I would expect interest to diminish as we get to the more recent efforts. After all, there are whole generations who have never had the chance to see Goldfinger or TSWLM on the big screen. It doesn't really have the same effect when a film is only a few years old.dirtybenny wrote: I can think of no better way to celebrate the 60 years of rich film history surrounding this series that show the 3 most recent films! Considering the last 2 were so bad even the sycophants can't stand them goes to show Bond begins and ends with Craig in Babbzy's eyes.

While Cr-egg is hanging out in Paris now, why will it take Broccoli "2 years" to figure out who the next Bond will be? How is Bezos allowing this nonsense to linger? Broccoli is stretching out Cr-egg's tenure as much as possible and it seems as if she wants to relive his Bond presence as long as she possibly can before the corporate bean counters tell Bezos what the hell is going on here?

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Shakira has a tax fraud case in Spain , only reason I mention it is because Sean Connery or was it his wife were targeted by Spain as well.
There are celebrities who commit tax fraud but Spain seems to have a history of essentially extortion attempts, hoping their victims settle rather than fight.
I know some of the countries who do this are more or less bankrupt and take any chance to add millions back to the bureaucratic bank account. however like New York City and other states have done similar attacks on famous rich athletes, actors and others, demanding these people prove they didn’t work in their city/state to get it of imagined tax bills, what they actually act as deterrent to anybody going to these places or investing in property and businesses there.
I’m sure plenty pay up rather than fight it as Sean Connery’s family did.

What part of "Jeff Bezos only bought a stake in Bond, he's not the sole owner and he's not Babbzy's boss" are you not getting?

Are you kidding? The guy is a MAJOR player now and what he says and thinks MATTERS. Broccoli's brain is on the shelf indefinitely as Cr-egg still lingers on as Bond in her corrupt mind. Time is money in business and his investment INCLUDES Bond. He should put pressure on the grubby kids to get their act together already.
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I'm sure he is, but at the end of the day, Babbzy has the final say on all things Bond, thanks to her father's business savvy.

I thought Jeff Bezos had stepped down from being head of Amazon and is now interested in yachts and rockets.

Amazon and is now its executive chairman. Not sure what the difference is as it relates to Bond.

Bezos might not even care he owns bond rights, might just be an old bet with Steve Jobs about who could buy the franchise first. It could be to get the Tolkien hobbit rights.Kristatos wrote:I thought you were joking, but Wikipedia says that he stepped down as CEO ofCapt. The excuse was he bought a studio to give his company content, he wasn’t making himself studio head to call the shots , he was handing it over to his team of amateurs to try sort it out. I don’t think anyone over at Amazon were going into this with a game plan, like Disney had buying Star Wars. I don’t think Amazon has plans for new bond movies or streaming series going into this,
I do not expect Babs to necessarily change much, I do think around next st. Patrick’s Day there will be movement on the bond front, that is if Amazon cares about making anything bond related they will have a year to think about it.
If Babs were smart she already have sat down with whoever her studio boss is at Amazon to act like she has a team at eon in place to get the next Bond movie made and they need to just keep paying the bills like Sony did.
If Amazon wants to play hardball they can, depends how Babs want to play or not. I bet she greedy enough to tell them what they want to hear to get $200 million to embezzle through her production company.
Assuming EON still produces the movies technically I guess it could be done under a new front/name
I think we’ll know more about how bond will be handled when we see how Amazon treats films ready to go into to production mgm had.
For some reason I’m thinking more sling the lines of what Disney did when they bought fox studios.
Only way I think Babs is truly in trouble is if Amazon puts somebody in charge on their end with a reputation of getting things done. Like marvel has and Star Wars now has with jon favreau.
Odds of this aren’t good, so Babs can take the lead with eon if she tries.
Only real change may be the trick budgeting, Sony and mgm agreed to budgets loaded with pork for the Broccoli family. No reason to other than they were desperate to get Babs to go to work

On this Amazon subject, I think Kris and Omega are right, Amazon whether that be Bezos or whomever aren't trying to get their hands dirty making these films or choosing the actors. I don't think they care at all about the substance of the films, the only way I see them getting involved is to push the pace of the filmmaking, they won't be willing to sit on their hands for half a decade or so between films, they want to chum out content.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Which, to be fair, is what BJ was talking about. But I think all they can do is push, I don't think Amazon buying MGM really changes the fact that they are very much the junior partner in Danjaq.dirtybenny wrote: the only way I see them getting involved is to push the pace of the filmmaking, they won't be willing to sit on their hands for half a decade or so between films, they want to chum out content.

Well I mean pressure is pressure, whether they knuckle under or not is up to them. But I see Amazon asking for a faster production schedule.

The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Well they are junior in the sense of The broccoli’s Contractually have final say on casting bond, the rest of it supposed to be a 50-50 split, with shared responsibility on decisions like plot, script, director, cast , funding, product placement.
The most we’ve seen a studio do in the last 30 years is product placement demands. Sony was painfully obvious with their movies just sort of putting a watermark on the movies.
Where Amazon is stronger is they are financially sound on their own right and don’t depend on Babs putting out a movie.
And they, not danjaq , own thunderball and Casino Royale, which is all Sony and WB wanted to make their own movie series, which technically those rights should be able to do.
Danjaq never owned thunderball rights, I want to say connery was offered the role in tb (it may be CR) and he insisted they partner with cubby and saltzman, it made a lot of money and each of the partners resenting the others because their piece of the pie was smaller. Considering it was the 1960s and how much profit was involved everyone did well. But it is the treason cubby and saltzman never wanted to make another movie with a partner so cr never got made with Connery instead of being a comedy spoof.
The interesting part about thunderball rights is first script connery read was thunderball. When dr no was made a script they Incorporated a lot of things from Thunderball into the Doctor Nos script that didn’t exist in Fleming‘s books before Thunderball, so technically a lot of the success of the early bond films will because they had used the resources found in Thunderball to create the early bond world and the characters including the villains organization.
I think Amazon will stay the course and work with Babs eon to make more movies, push Babs to produce streaming series for side characters like Disney plus has with marvel and Star Wars.
Unless Babs digs in refusing to work at all, I don’t think Amazon goes for nuclear option.
If Amazon start buying all the bond novelization rights still out there from Fleming’s estate then well have a hint they plan to make a move.
Unless we are wrong and Bezos is a really, really, really is a big bond fan who wants to make good bond movies again I don’t think we’re gonna see a fight for power.
On the other hand if cubby were still in charge Amazon wouldn’t be sitting back wondering what the eon is thinking, cubby would be front and center pushing to make a movie right away and throw everything at it making it one of the biggest spectacles ever.

Insiders said NTTD needed to make $900 million just to break even. It grossed $774 million worldwide. Including post-theatre sales up until now, did it make any profit?

Why announce it will take "2 years" to figure out where SHE wants to go? If someone is eager to move forward they will. Broccoli might decide to chuck it all and leave on her own and announce her successors before she has to make the big decision. She is just wasting time now by treading water since she cannot resign herself to the factor that Cr-egg is done as Bond. For 17 years she has had mental orgasms over her creation and she just cannot let go. Only ONE Bond film as been done since 2015. It could be over 10 years to get a second one since then She has 2 perfect choices right now yet she wants to wait?dirtybenny wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 8:23 am Well I mean pressure is pressure, whether they knuckle under or not is up to them.
