I want to see this, though I know it's caused controversy before it's even been released.bjmdds wrote:

I’m kind of interested in this one, it looks like walk the line with the joker.
One thing I didn’t like about 1989 Batman was the lame Hollywood logic of Joker killed Batman’s parents creating Batman , Batman created the joker. Today we call that brofeld logic

Yeah, I thought that was tacky even in 1989. It wasn't in Sam Hamm's original screenplay, and Hamm later criticized the addition.Omega wrote:I’m kind of interested in this one, it looks like walk the line with the joker.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
The long and short of it is this: Just how much of a handbook will Joker be for the disaffected looking to see a hero journey for someone who resorts to senseless violence in this era of mass shootings? In presenting Arthur as a "nice guy" at the mercy of a society who does not care about him, does it directly cater to the embittered incel crowd? Just as the Joker, in the end, inspires a wave of violence, could the movie do the same? Telegraph critic Robbie Collin tweeted: "Here is my opinion of Joker: I think it's a very good film and I'm worried someone's going to get killed." To counter, a piece in The Outline readily dismisses "the assumption that violent media breeds violent behavior."
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
And so Joker joins the canon of works that supposedly inspire violent nutcases to kill, along with Catcher In The Rye, Child's Play and the rest, before it's even released.. What are we supposed to do, ban anything that might theoretically lead to a crime?

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Well some of this is because of the killing at the premiere of dark knight rises.

Don't think that was blamed on the actual film, though, was it?Omega wrote:Well some of this is because of the killing at the premiere of dark knight rises.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Yes, well more the previous film which Heath ledger supposedly was so into the role he turned to drugs.
There was a initial blaming the films for a crazy sob actions. “They were too intense, glorified antisocial and psychopathic behavior”.
A more rational narrative took over eventually, as I recall it was a initial knee jerk to condemn the source for inspiring the insanity. At lest on a more local level.
Reading the reactions about the new joker movie remind me of those who blamed the movie for inspiring the nut job ignored by his school, police, and others in authority to do something about him.
Someone willing to do something like a mass shooting is twisted to a point I don’t believe one thing in popular culture is responsible. But for critics on their blogs it’s not their fault, or societies fault for creating a Petri dish it’s got to be a game/song/movie/book/religion/talk show/web site behind it.

He might have been there over the years but I never saw him and I don't see his name listed for next month.

It's FBF in disguise. He was always Daniel Cr-egg but he kept it secret all of this time...................check out what people pay at Chiller Theatre for pictures https://prostarphotos.com/collections/all?page=1

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Very poor taste in fashion. Then again, the tights he outfits himself with, a shirt picked up from a second hand store construction workers often wear, a random red tie making him look like a bad rehash of 1980s Chevy Chase, I can't expect this guy (let alone his Bond) to be a man of stature. Give me the Brosnan era suits over those any day of the week. And as if his tight pants were not enough, he attaches suspenders to them. How original.Capt. Back in the '80s, it seemed almost de rigueur for serial killers to own a copy. Not sure why.Veronica wrote:Catcher In The Rye inspired someone to kill?Kristatos wrote:And so Joker joins the canon of works that supposedly inspire violent nutcases to kill, along with Catcher In The Rye, Child's Play and the rest, before it's even released..
