Christopher Nolan thinks Tom Hardy would make a superb Bond. From The Wrap, an article on July 20th, just before the release of Dunkirk:

“He’d be amazing,” said Nolan of Hardy in the role last played by Daniel Craig. “He really would.”

The filmmaker was grilled over the prospect of inheriting the spy franchise from Sam Mendes by podcast host Josh Horowitz, on his show “Happy Sad Confused.”

Nolan has long been courted for the gig, saying he’s met with franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson several times over the years.

“I’d love to work with them at some point … [but] I’d have to be needed,” Nolan said about possibly directing an adventure for the famed Brit. “I think they’ve got a really good thing going.”

Nolan did say he has a concept for Bond that hasn’t been done yet, but would not share details fear he would need the idea to get the job someday.

When I saw Dunkirk last weekend, the trailer for the next Kingsman film was shown. The audience applauded and cheered at seeing it.

There's also something of a buzz for Scott Adkins as Bond. I've seen him in budget direct-to-video action films. But I've seen articles since December 2016, touting him as a potential replacement for Craig. The most recent I've seen is from last May from The Herald:

Asked about the Bond buzz swirling around him, Adkins said: “I think I’ve got the right look. I’m English, I’m the stereotypical tall, dark and handsome — well, not very tall, but certainly dark. I love to do action films and I think I’d be a very good Bond.”

The rumors about certain actors are expected. We always get that with the Bond films. But Nolan, who's now on some kind of pedestal in the business, endorsing Hardy takes some thunder away from a Craig return. Then you've got growing audience appreciation for the Kingsman franchise. I don't know...but I get this feeling the powers-that-be behind the Bond films are planning some kind of overhaul. Or at least that's the intention but since the development for the next one has been stagnating, they went ahead and did that weird announcement on the Facebook page, almost like a post-It note for the release date. Add to that this mood that Craig is being lined up to be on the chopping block. Just my impressions. But here's a more balanced look at the announcement, without the usual canned gushing praise for Craig, from The Wrap, that places a question mark over his involvement:

James Bond is heading back to movie theaters with or without Daniel Craig.
Franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson of EON Productions, announced that the 25th James Bond film will hit the U.S. on November 8, 2019. It will rollout in Europe one week prior, keeping with tradition.
Neal Purvis and Robert Wade will return to write the script, as they have for each Craig-led Bond — titles including “Skyfall,” “Spectre,” “Quantum of Solace” and “Casino Royale”
Broccoli and Wilson promised “details regarding distribution, including international release dates, the film’s cast and director, will be announced at a later date.”

This Scott Adkins is someone who got a lot of love over at another Bond forum. Just to give you an idea of where they stand they seem to hate (at least most) people we seem to love here like Aidan Turner.

Adkins has the look but he is actually a very accomplished martial artist that's not going to be a good mix for eon who love artsy fake crap, a guy who could not only do his own stunts but act isnt going to crap off babs . Think of him more like Bruce Lee than the average Steve Seagal .

Interesting thought about the announcement the other day not naming Craig had all of our interest, they didn't name any of the other cast who is already signed. Just curious, they could be announcing the gangs all here now for all I know.

DB, after all this time, it appears that this thread will top "1 million" views before Cr-egg leaves the role once and for all :!: I never expected the longevity of this never-ending nightmare to approach this time frame :!: Imagine posting here in 2022 and Cr-egg is still in the role? :-x

Warner Bros confirmed Wonder Woman 2 will be released in the US on December 13 2019, which is 6 weeks after Bond 25's release.

A lot of big movies coming out 2019, November 1st is a D.C. Movie, November 22 marvel, dec 13 Wonder Woman 2, I'm curious if star wars 9 stays in may 2019. I think the only big franchise they are avoiding is Avatar.

FBF might like this article. I thought it criticised Bond for all the wrong reasons, and I wondered if the writer had actually seen Kingsman (which he seems to think is a sort of superhero name, like Batman): http://news.sky.com/story/james-bond-is ... n-10962712

The Coen Brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis, about a narcissistic folk musician, has as one of the title character's humiliations being forced to perform as a session musician on a pastiche of such novelty songs, which he approaches with about as much enthusiasm as serious ac-tor Daniel Craig approaches Bond.

There was also 11 year old Ricky Wilde with "I am an astronaut" 1972, a bit post-space race era, but still a dream profession for a young boy to be an astronaut.

Reading this article I honestly believe the author never saw a Bond film let alone Kingsman and was just writing off of the IMDB synopsis as well as what their SJW pals say at cocktail parties. Speaking of cocktails WTF does this mean "weird taste in beverages", are you referring to Martinis? Yeah, who drinks those anymore? He follows up later on with: "His one-liners and fancy cars are not enough to stir my Martini - if I were to ever drink such a thing." Once again we're talking about Martinis not Fuzzy Navels! Those comments alone tells me you have nothing intelligent to say on the subject.

The author starts as most SJW Bond haters do by disparaging his upper middle class upbringing. This guy follows up by exalting Eggsy's lower class origins, the irony is once he becomes a Kingsman, Eggsy exudes the trappings of the upper crust, he's ten times as posh as Bond ever was! As short as this article was it managed to pack 10 pounds of ignorance into a 5 pound bag!

This however was my favorite line: "Bond was a spy for post-war veterans. Eggsy is a spy for enlightened millennials." First what is a "post-war veteran?" you are ether a war veteran or not you can't be a veteran after the fact! Also god forbid heterosexual men who served their countries have a fantasy figure. Next Eggsy is "enlightened" how? I don't recall him doing or saying anything particularly "woke" as the kids like to say these days. A little more on this "enlightened" business, Eggsy's from a housing estate, I don't know about Great Britain but here in the states the projects as they're called ain't too progressive. At any given moment you can hear all manner of racial, homophobic and sexist epithets getting bandied about without hesitation. And where exactly in the pantheon of enlightenment does the scene at the end where the girl he rescues offers up anal sex as reward for her freedom?

Eggsy enlightened? Did he watch the movie? I love eggsy but he's not a snowflake worried about sustainability. He also showed he could appreciate and adapt to the finer things in life. This is the old bs about bond being a drunk womanizer. Bond was Woke before Woke was Woke. He was always on the right side of every social movement it's just his author died in the 1960s. Bond was the guy trying to rescue the girl from the totalitarians, he was the guy who wasn't bitter at the Japanese after WWII, he was the guy who hung out with kerim bay and adopted by the gypsies. 50 years later he wasn't as pc as being pro gay marriage but neither were any of the recent politicians until a few years ago.

If he's referring to the James Bond from 1962 to 2002 who must retire, I agree based on Babs' dictatorial regime.
