Funnily enough, I watched it today at the cinema. Excellent movie even though I find Craig's whole character bizzare. A renowned detective called Benoit Blanc who has a Kentucky accent but says his name with a french accent. Maybe it was supposed to be a joke but nobody laughed. Other than that I can not really find a big flaw.

What knives out has against it is the director. I doubt anything much will come of it . Nothing Craig has done outside of bond has any real success.

According to the-numbers.com, it only cost $40 million to make, so I'd be surprised if it didn't turn a profit.

I just mean it’s not a particularly anticipated movie with no draw about the story I don’t expect it to make $350 million at the bo & $10 million home video like Murder on the Orient express

I think it should appeal to much the same audience, and the fact that the story is less familiar might be an advantage in a whodunnit. And I'm not convinced that the animosity towards Rian Johnson among hardcore Star Wars fans really transfers across to Mr and Mrs Joe Q Multiplex.

Maybe, I just don’t think his name as director means anything to the general public . I don’t think stars drive movies any more either.

We will see.

Knives Out sounds similar to the Peter Falk murder mystery spoof Murder by Death.

I get the impression that it's a murder mystery with a lot of humour, rather than an outright parody.

Watched the first episode of His Dark Materials(free on Apple TV right now) and liked it much more than the film with Cregg.

First of all, it’s rated TV MA(mature) which means they are going waaay darker than the film did.

Second:James Mcavoy is a much better Asriel.

Seriously? I don't know if the Apple TV version is an extended cut, but I'm up to episode three so far on the BBC (episode four tonight at 8pm), and there's been nothing in it so far that would warrant a restrictive rating.

They may cut it for transmission in an 8pm slot, when kids may be watching. What was in the version you saw that would earn it a TV-MA rating?

Honestly?Nothing. The only things that come right to mind are the polar bear battle(much later in the story)and the kids being separated from their daemons(also later in the story)and they’re just slapping a general MA rating as a CYA thing?

I guess it's a case of "report back after you've seen all the episodes". Certainly, it's being marketed towards a family audience over here.

Doing some reading around and am more confused than ever. Just google His Dark Materials and rating, and you’ll see what I mean.

Knives out did well in early market release, from what I hear the director does another bait and switch most of the big names are barely on screen.

Showbiz 411 has shared an awkward encounter they had with Craig at a private screening and Q&A of Knives Out. The outlet wrote of shaking hands with the 51-year-old star and seeing if there was any truth to those rumours that Adele would write and sing the No Time To Die theme.

A very coy Craig replied: “Adele? Who’s Adele?
