This is actually a good get for him. Other than Thomas crown, maybe Remington steel , I don’t know what recommends him as the narrator for greatest heists.
This and his role in black Adam it was a good year for him. He not a young actor but he getting work in a crowed market

I agree. He's a working actor and keeping his profile active is key. And have you noticed, even when the reviews are uneven for a movie (Black Adam I'm looking at you!), the reviews for Pierce are uniformly positive. He might be moving into the Michael Caine phase of his career where his presents always elevates a movie and he's always working.

There seems to have been a bit of a controversy over this year's Oscars, with the excellent Andrea Riseborough being nominated for Best Actress after the director of the film she was in (the title of which temporarily escapes me) got his celebrity mates to tweet out their support for it. Whilst it was obviously an organised campaign, with many of the tweets using the same wording ("a little film with a big heart"), I don't really see how it's any different to the "for your consideration" ads placed by the studios in the trade papers around awards season.

James Gunn has high praises for the upcoming The Flash movie. The superhero film was mostly completed before its star Ezra Miller made months of headlines for a string of alarming behavior that included erratic social media rants, arrests and court appearances. Now, the standalone action film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 16. Gunn (who, in October, was named as the new co-CEO of DC Studios at Warner Bros. along with producer Peter Safran) told reporters on Tuesday, according to Deadline: "I will say here that Flash is probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made." He added that the film's storyline "resets everything" for the franchise.

One of the great pleasures of not being an adolescent is that you don't have to share everything. When you're married, that door closes. The audience goes, and you're in your own life,' she said.-------------toooooooo famous? I would bet he could walk into a room at a lot of hotels and casinos and nobody would even notice the lout.

Ben Whishaw, who first portrayed the tech-savvy Q in Skyfall, recently shared his thoughts on the future of the Bond franchise. He was interviewed by Screen Rant at the Sundance Film Festival, where he was promoting his latest movie, Bad Behavior. When asked about a potential return as Q in James Bond 26, he shared that he was uncertain about his future in the franchise. He believes that the next Bond film could "wipe the slate clean," meaning that he may not return as Q when a new actor takes on the role of James Bond.

“Your guess is as good as mine. I have not heard anything. I have a suspicion that they might sort of wipe the slate clean and start again, so maybe not, sadly.”

Probably, but then they brought back Judi Dench as M. Personally, I think that was the first sign of how half-assed their "reboot" was, and a lot of people seem to have found it confusing, but will they learn?

 This absolutely, will they learn? No. Will Whishaw be the one to return? Doubt it.

This sounds almost ominous considering the rumors about their "open relationship."

I asked ChatGPT to write a treatment for a Bond film in the style of Purvis and Wade. I like to think that AI will never replace human creativity, but in some cases, I'll make an exception. This is what it came up with:

SHADOW AGENT

Act 1:
The film opens with James Bond (Daniel Craig) on a mission in Istanbul, Turkey to retrieve a stolen hard drive containing classified information. As Bond makes his way through the city, he is pursued by a group of unknown assassins. Bond manages to fight them off, but is left wounded and must escape through the bustling streets of Istanbul.

Act 2:
Back at MI6, Bond is debriefed by M (Ralph Fiennes) and Moneypenny (Naomie Harris). The hard drive is revealed to contain information about a secret organization known only as "Shadow." The organization is led by the mysterious and elusive "Shadow Agent," who is said to be responsible for some of the world's most heinous crimes.

Act 3:
Bond is tasked with infiltrating Shadow and bringing down the Shadow Agent. Bond travels to Switzerland and infiltrates a high-stakes poker game where the Shadow Agent is rumored to be in attendance. Bond wins the game, earning the attention of the Shadow Agent (played by a high-profile male actor). The Shadow Agent offers Bond a job, but Bond declines and instead infiltrates the Shadow Agent's inner circle.

Act 4:
Bond is tasked with carrying out a series of dangerous missions for the Shadow Agent. As he works his way deeper into the organization, Bond learns that the Shadow Agent's ultimate goal is to start a world war. Bond must race against time to stop the Shadow Agent and save the world.

Act 5:
The final act takes place in a high-stakes action sequence that spans multiple countries. Bond and the Shadow Agent face off in a brutal final showdown, with Bond ultimately emerging victorious. In the aftermath, Bond returns to MI6 and is debriefed by M. The film ends with Bond walking off into the sunset, ready for his next mission.

It's close, Bond is injured, but it forgot to show Bond fighting to get back on the case, not to mention him resigning 5 or 6 times throughout the film or pining for his one (or two) true love. I'd be interested to see what it would come up with if writing in the style of Maibaum?

It's just a mishmash of bits taken from the actual Craig films, for the most part. But mercifully free of Bond fighting his inner demons, or any agonising over whether he remains relevant in the modern world. So, an improvement over the real thing in some respects.

Edited to add: Oh, and I tried asking it to write in the style of Richard Maibaum, but the results were barely distinguishable from the P&W one. As other people have said, AI at this stage is typing, not writing.

Interesting, as you say just a mash up and not ready for prime time. The synopsis looks closer to the last two Mission Impossible films rather than Bond. To be fair though P&W pretty much just type rather than write as well.

Well, quite. That's why the AI version wasn't that much of a step down, and in some ways, better.

A new series of Fawlty Towers (incorrectly labelled as a reboot) is in the works. As much as I want to cheer, the chances of this being any good seem...slim: https://deadline.com/2023/02/fawlty-tow ... 248f07f851

Did anyone hear about this film? My Dinner with Hervé

It's a drama about the actor Hervé Villechaize who played Nick Nack in TMWTGG, focusing on the last days of his life.

Interestingly, it apparently recreates several scenes from TMWTGG and they had a British actor, Mark Umbers playing Roger Moore:

There's an interview with Umbers here about it where he mentions he auditioned for Bond before Craig got it and says he was too young then:

Potential next 007? :happy spin:

Yeah I won't hold my breath. I'm surprised they can find any new anagrams for the writing on the sign at the beginning.
