Mazer Rackham wrote:Staggering amount of massaging going into those budget numbers - still no Happy Ending in sight. The spin masters offering up low ball total budget counting in tax breaks mixed with other ethereal credits is Hollywood accounting with no fact checking, good for publicity no studio wants to publicly look like they blew their entire years budget on one movie -internal studio books will look very different. Assume the bargain basement low-ball 350m total is correct they will not break even with theatrical rental, home video will be another dud -all this is not counting in taxes, other fees and bonuses paid out to participants.

The amusing part of this fiasco is Sony blaming Danny boy for this. It was their lack of security which exposed so many secrets including the half-baked script and out of control budget. Sony is a piss poor promoter nobody in the business thinks they have done a good job promoting the Bond series, common assumption is not promoting a movie correctly is the same as leaving money on the table. Craig screwed the pooch during the build up no doubt, I'm sure someone inside the studio is trying to put a finger on the exact cause behind the hemorrhaging of money -Danno's name is sure to be coming up again and again.

Never in the history of the franchise has the public been so ready for a change. EON and MGM would be wise to use this moment to change horses, problem being the family behind Bond are idiots who think they have more influence than they actually do. If I were MGM I'd use a new partnership as leverage to change this up -the attendance numbers are evidence enough the audience needs to be jarred out of their stupor (actually it's Babs and her Brofeld's creative stupor). I'd argue after ten years the audience needs something fresh to get their attention again. Some inside EON do have a plan, they were ready to go in 2011 for a fresh start in 2012 getting rid of the Craig baggage. Nobody with half a brain can fail to notice how horrible Craig is for the franchise, his behavior and influence has cost them a lot of money and prestige, maybe more considering how precarious Sony and MGM finances are.

I'd look for Spectre attendance numbers to be down in the pre-Skyfall levels. Inflation is going to mask some of this so will a few outliers.

Boxoffice.com: Spectre took in $2.43 million on Monday to lead the daily box office for an eleventh consecutive day. The latest installment of Sony and MGM's James Bond franchise was down 71 percent from Sunday and down a sizable 54 percent from last Monday. Spectre has grossed a solid $131.41 million in ten days. The film is currently running 18 percent ahead of the $110.99 million eleven-day take of 2008's Quantum of Solace and 20 percent behind the $164.96 million eleven-day gross of 2012's Skyfall............(everything we predicted for this film is coming to fruition. It should be all downhill from here on at the box office with Mockingjay taking over. I doubt ECT-TRE can top The Martian in the USA: Domestic: $207,850,615 :!:  Broccoli won't be happy with the USA. :happy spin: ALE, get Martin Campbell ready for Henry's intro hopefully soon :!: ) Image defeats Image at the USA box office :!: Priceless :!: A film about growing plants on Mars from human excrement does better than a Broccoli Bond film in the USA.

The first one is limited, the second wide. I don't know why they are doing it that way, it's a release strategy you normally see in indie films, rather than major franchise movies.

It looks like a teaser opener prior to the main one for some odd reason. MI:4 did that here too: Dec 16–18 2011- only 425 theatres- $13,385,204 gross http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?pa ... id=mi4.htm

dad was the skyfall of its day , biggest bond movie was what they said . It mostly ticket cost and other factors. I deleted the numbers in the post but I think dad adjusted for inflation is $700 million movie, and the were not allowed in China before 2006 , and movie theater screen count is through the roof .

If also argue if we're are comparing Craigs uk no to any other bond Connery, Brosnan Moore , dalton would all have the #1 uk movie which ever year it is.

Also spectre opened lower in the us than qos or dad

I'm glad he's not try to praise sp, but he's still sucking up to Craig . Making excuses is a problem from me. I don't care how tired Craig is you don't say what he said, and Brosnan never did he worked the same schedule

Yeah I wasn't too happy with the other comments from Pierce on there ie thinking Craig's a great bond and it was just the script not him but I guess every actor who played bond tries not to speak to badly of the other one (exception being Lazenby) and I still think his bond was never below him and he did a great job playing james bond, problem is this stupid culture today only believes you can be bond if you can fight in some sort of massive brawl, it takes class to play bond and you need to look the part and not uncomfortable in the part (which Craig has always looked to Me).

I think he was wise not to criticise Craig. It would come across as sour grapes if he did.

True didn't think about that part.

Omega: Yeah that place is pretty much a Craig fan boy site so much so it's beeping disgusting, oh praise be Craig, Brosnan is scum etc and no one talks out of turn of the latest one despite not being anything like bond as it's cool, I really find it very ignorant and it feels like being back in school (Same with imdb), even more ironic is how anyone can defend an actor who pretty much (and I don't care how tired he was) told his fans he'd rather slash his wrists than play the role again, doesn't give a beep who plays the next bond as long as they're not crap....really it's so stupid the mind boggles, then does a barrel roll and continues to boggle then goes off on a holiday still boggling then finally puts on a song about boggling because it still can't comprehend all the boggling.
