She also said all of Craig’s bond movies were great roles for women, essentially nothing needs to change because they were so great already. No modern feminist or me too activist would agree, if anything Craig’s bond has a worse attitude toward women than brosnan pad Dalton, literally since 1987.

If she's not careful, she'll talk herself out of a job. Except they're now saying she was brought in because the plot concocted by the previous 5 writers didn't make any sense.

I think she’s trying to say two things while praising the EON vision. First is to who she imagines the fans to be essentially I’m not brought in to change the type of women represented in Craig’s bond, the second is to her peers in the industry I’m not allowed a free hand I’m just trying to help the turd polishing team.

I still think she’s brought in because they want to do a Spy who loves/d me kind of treatment. But let’s say it’s a normal plot line she essentially there to rubber stamp what the other writers have done maybe with a quip or two in the dialogue.

Only thing Phoebe what’s her face has over all of EON and all the queens writers, is she knows what it is like to be in a popular movie series when the fans turn on it. Not that I think her role was the cause or solo despite the shuffling director was a bad movie but that maybe because they had one vision with one set of scrip writers since the start.

I still haven't seen Solo (I haven't even seen Rogue One yet. I'm not deliberately avoiding these films, I just haven't got around to it yet). I'm aware that she was in it, but I don't think she was one of the writers.

I think Fleming's Bond respected women. The movie Bond latched onto the whole Swinging Sixties sexual revolution to make him much more promiscuous, in a way that looks a bit rapey to 21st century audiences.

I agree with this whole heartedly! If anything a great many of Fleming’s Bond girls were the aggressor or at least more assertive than the 1950s popular culture.

The bond movies tried to copy the sexual revolution attitude of the 1960s, then the swinging 70’s by the time they caught up to aids in the late 80s the series had cemented itself as a bygone unhealthy attitude toward women, ignoring the kind of women Fleming like to write in the books.

Really it is the same problem Hollywood has in me too, the movie industry represented what they thought was the anti church prude censorship, it’s just sex, no reason it shouldn’t be on tv or screens, Christians should shut up, this is a secular world. And maybe my impression is wrong and the industry was not doing what they did as a reaction to the Catholic Church or Christian fundamentalist, whatever the reason the movie industry had a unhealthy notion of sex and using provocative sexuality to draw audiences in. In leadership of Hollywood studios there was and is the attitude of this is how the real world is parties that would make Caligula sick and casting couch decisions, big city reality against the rural values.
At least this is how I see it. The heart of the problem is sex sells and movies and tv are visual mediums, industry producers and director thought that they had to be experts on what was sexy and alluring, as a result they lost any moral compass trying to bring this to the screen to sell tickets.

there is a whole lot of her humor in the role. She was green suited and acted out a lot of the scenes. It’s undeniable her brand in the character, just from interviews, cast interactions, and scenes of here on set, she put a lot in the role. As did a lot of the actors trying to fill lando and Hans shoes.

But I’ll add she didn’t really go against the type of character that could be in Star Wars, she wasn’t too full of herself. She did the role with a lot of her attitude in it because that’s how the directors wanted it, while there were parts I didn’t like, the big thing I didn’t like with her character was not her doing.
Basically solo was trying to recreate the Alan Tudyk snark with his imperial droid in rogue one. IMHO solo had the bad luck of being the fourth new Star Wars movie and following last Jedi where rogue one had the luck being the second new Star Wars movie and of following force awakens.

My only point is she is in the unique position of anyone on that production to be aware of how unhappy fans can cripple the success of a series, it’s not been Babs experience, or Craig’s, or the directors. Like phoebe what’s her face they were critical darlings.

I think she was in Solo before she became hot property, but I wouldn't swear to that.

It was only 2017-18 for solo.

Honestly I haven’t followed here career, didn’t know who she was until I saw a photo I recognized

Looked her up on IMDb and her breakout series Fleabag debuted in 2016. It seems much more recently that I've seen her name everywhere, though. I must just have not been paying attention.

At this rate, the gunbarrel is going to be Bond pulling out his gun and blowing his big toe off.

As someone pointed out in the comments to that Facebook post, a "controlled explosion" that results in injury and property damage is just an explosion.

Disreputable British tabloid The Sun has a much more sensationalised version of the story here: https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/9 ... explosion/
