In a new interview, James Purefoy opened up about why he might have lost out on the job and how it has “plagued [his] life.”

“There have been jobs, Bond being one of them, where you get very close to getting something and then you start pulling away because the ramifications of what would happen if you got it become a little troubling,” he told The Independent. “The closer I got to Bond, the more I wasn’t really sure."

In the interview, he says that Craig had many of the same doubts. If only Purefoy had been the one to overcome them instead of him.

Purefoy thrilled me as Mark Anthony in Rome.
And he would certainly be miles better as Bond than Craig every could be.

He'd still have been lumbered with the same rubbish films, though, so maybe it's for the best.

Imagine if your dream Bond is cast in the part - and makes boring old nonsense such as Quantum of Solace and that one where he is in a house in a deserted Scotch field at the end.

I was excited until I read the synopsis:

“What if you do Sam Spade later in life and he’s 60s years old?” explained Frank. “He’s now an ex-pat living in the South of France. His past comes to his past and finds him in this small town. It’s going to be a six-episode series with Clive Owen.”

What if, and this is a big if, we stopped experimenting with established works and made straight forward adaptations that were enjoyable to watch?

Harrison Ford will return for the fifth and final Indiana Jones movie, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed. It'll be directed by James Mangold (the man behind Logan and Ford vs Ferrari), is currently in pre production and shooting will kick off spring 2021. It'll hit theaters in July 2022.

I didn't hate Crystal Skull as much as most people seemed to, but I hope this one is better nonetheless.

The world schnooks are being forced to shut down their businesses due to governmental tyrants yet Hollywood gets to keep doing their thing? Tom Cruise had another meltdown over filming the next MI film now:

He was acting like an ass, but he wasn't wrong. He was trying to make a movie under social distancing guidelines, and as I understand it, he was yelling at people who weren't respecting that. Bosses shouldn't yell at their subordinates like that, but it was with good reason.

I think it’s two things.

First the stars are probably not practicing what they preach

Second I think he is stressed out because more likely he’s not going to make his money back because of how covid killed theaters and how slow the industry is to adapt.

I think he was wearing his producer's hat rather than his star's hat. You may be right about the second point, but the fact is, he's trying to make a movie under very difficult circumstances. I don't blame him for getting stressed about it, though I do fault him for lashing out like that.

According to a report from The Sun, five people have left the production after a "second" outburst from Cruise.

A couple of RIPs to report: Jeremy Bulloch, best known as Boba Fett, but who also played Smithers, Q's assistant, in FYEO and Octopussy. And production designer Peter Lamont.
