Interesting. This starts out like it's going to be one of those tiresome "young person watches thing from 20th century and is SHOCKED" articles, but the author ends up liking Dr No far more than she expected: https://www.radiotimes.com/movies/james ... ond-at-70/

Image This book is coming out now written by a 33 year old woman for the Fleming estate to 'woke' it up for the younger generation. Perhaps Broccoli will wait and use the plot of this film and hire mostly women to write and direct it..........Part of that task involved bringing more diversity to the traditionally white male cadre of secret agents in the James Bond universe. One of the main characters is Johanna Harwood, Agent 003, who had a romantic relationship with Bond (and whose name pays tribute to a screenwriter who worked on the early 007 movies). Agent 004 is Joseph Dryden, a gay Black veteran of the war in Afghanistan. Agent 009 is Sid Bashir, a spy of British-Asian descent who was involved in a love triangle with Harwood and Bond. Sherwood says the double-O diversity isn’t just a politically correct gimmick: “There’s also this idea in intelligence agencies called perspective blindness, where if everybody in your group comes from the same perspective, they’ll all miss the same clues, and they won’t challenge each other. So intelligence agencies in the last few decades have really sought to diversify their agents as a strategic asset.” “Double or Nothing” is the first book of a trilogy by Kim Sherwood. (William Morrow / Harper Collins). That’s not the only nod to modern times. “Double or Nothing” also features a dramatic update in 007’s tech world. The biggest change has to do with Q, who has traditionally been James Bond’s geeky gadget-meister. In Sherwood’s novel, Q is a quantum computer :hair: that sifts through terabytes of sensor data to anticipate the bad guys’ next moves. Image https://www.geekwire.com/2023/bond-007- ... e-quantum/

I doubt it. She can barely bring herself to make actual Bond films, and has shown zero enthusiasm for the idea of a "Bond cinematic universe" (much to Amazon's disappointment, I imagine).

I agree Babz wouldn't pay a few grand for the continuation novels, despite having ready made stories to film which far exceeded her scribbling scribes Pervis and Wade's abilities (no mean feat). She just couldn't bring her self to throw a few bob a writer's way when she could instead overpay an albino neanderthal, so why start now.

This book is eerily similar to the non-Bond "Bond" comic book I found a couple years ago:
http://danielcraigisnotbond.com/index/b ... ous-comic/
Little to no Bond and instead focus' on the new incidental characters crated by the author because they don't have the desire and the talent to keep within the framework of the source material.
In reality we have to face facts, Bond as we knew and loved him is deader than fried chicken. I hate to be a pessimist, but facts are facts, Babz isn't going to suddenly have an epiphany and return James to form. Nor shall we put any stock in the false hope of another stepping in to take the reins, Babz will never leave and those groomed to take over (Michael Wilson's children) aren't any better. Couple this with Hollyweird's insistence on pushing their message and Bond is kaput, done, dusted, a thing of the past and at this point I'm just sitting back with a marshmallow on a stick and watching it all burn.

A James Bond casting director has claimed younger actors don't have the 'mental capacity' for the highly-coveted role. Debbie McWilliams, who has snapped up stars for the franchise since 1981, complained up-and-coming hopefuls lacked 'experience' and 'gravitas' when they auditioned for the top spot ahead of 2006's Casino Royale......but she found Cr-egg did :?: :!: :hair: ---lunatic :!:.......it gets better: Emily In Paris actor Lucien Laviscount also caught the eye of James Bond boss Barbara Broccoli in December. It is also thought that Ms Broccoli and her team are keen to have an ethnic-minority star to play 007 so the franchise is reflective of modern society. However, some executives are fearful Lucien's appearance on reality show Celebrity Big Brother in 2011, when he finished in fifth place, will tarnish his chances of getting the job because previous Bonds have been more highbrow. A source told The Mail On Sunday: ‘Lucien ticks all of the boxes. He is a super talented actor, is extremely handsome and in the past 18 months has won lots of new fans since he joined Emily In Paris. ‘Bond bosses are already saying how you can see him in the 007 tuxedo, how dapper and fitting to the role he will look. But, there is a sticking point, and that is Big Brother. Lucien appeared on the show at a time when his acting career was not as high-profile as it is now, but he was very popular then and has a fan base now which stretches generations. That is a dream for Barbara who is VERY TAKEN with him.’ Image

Well, I can criticise Craig for many things, but a lack of gravitas isn't one of them. If anything, I have the opposite complaint - he took himself way too seriously, and sucked all the joy out of the films.

Another day another casting rumor! This one has some validity to me because is smacks of "testing the waters." I think EON are concerned about this Big Brother business and are trying to sus out public opinion. I don't know what this bloke did on the program 12 years ago but it has Babz worried. Was he smoking crack cocaine and forcing himself on his costars? If so then just another Thursday in Hollywood.

Not a new one, this guy has been talked about before. But for it to be placed in the same story that literally quotes the casting director of the Bond films as saying that all these casting rumours are bulls**t takes some chutzpah!

In this recent tweet, Babz said Cubby would approve of Daniel...oh ok! Don't think so.

There are still plenty of bootlickers posting things like "Daniel Craig, the only James Bond". But it's heartening to see the number of people telling them to hurry up and choose his successor already.

First of all, who calls their father Cubby? It should be DADDY! Secondly, it is 2023 and Broccoli is STILL living in the past, as we have been saying, and cannot let go of Cr-egg :!: She should be talking about the franchises's FUTURE, not Cr-egg's PAST :!: People are fed up with her on ALL sides now :!:

Surprised this wasn't hidden behind a paywall, articles in Murdoch papers usually are. I don't buy this "amazing coincidence", AI is just a glorified search engine, and I'm sure the art program was influenced by the number of news stories linking Aaron Taylor-Johnson to the Bond role.

Baloney set up pre-arranged AI to look like Cr-egg and give Broccoli ideas to bring IT back.

I concur either cheap "search engine" shenanigans, or EON testing the waters on their front runner, absolutely nothing organic about this!

bjmdds wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 3:22 pm It has been said here time and time again that Broccoli is NOT interested in going forward with this franchise. Her heart and soul remain in the past. She cannot get over the fact that Cr-egg is DONE and in her warped mind she wants to believe that the franchise cannot go forward after the past 18 years of her creation. ANYONE else running the show would have chosen a new actor 1 year ago and would be getting ready NOW to start filming it! Amazon is letting her dwell in her own sick fantasies. UNTIL a new boy toy strikes deep into her psyche, DORMANCY will remain for the series and moth balls might be the final verdict! She truly is demented and is allowed to run and ruin a billion dollar entity! ONE film since 2015 sums it up!
I'm back again. And totally agree with this from BJ.

WTF is going on at EON? No urgency for a new script? No urgency for a new actor?

Taylor Johnson seems to be a decent candidate, but I'm guessing Babs will go for a left field choice instead at the last minute. She is ruining her dad's legacy. NTTD was on TV again last night and it really is awful. Probably the worst film in the franchise (that used to be DAD for me). Killing off Bond was the worst decision she has made as producer, and my re-evaluation of Craig now his tenure is over is this - he is the worst actor to play Bond. I cannot stand him now. CR is the only decent film he was in, and that film works because of the script and direction, but not because of him playing Bond.

Rant over! :hair:
