That's the user rating, the Tomatometer rating was something like 81%. I don't trust the user rating, as it has been the victim of an orchestrated campaign by incels who want to put those uppity women back in the kitchen where they belong.

That may very well be, but it could also be just another mediocre super hero film, which the studio's publicity machine is covering for by referring to all of its detractors as "incels who want to put those uppity women back in the kitchen where they belong." After all they tried it with the female Ghostbusters.

I'm sure there are people who simply didn't like it, but when a film is the target of a campaign like that, it is hard to gauge the true audience response. Ghostbusters flopped at the box office as well, and I doubt that was solely down to 4chan etc. If Captain Marvel opens big and then suffers big drop-offs, it will be a more reliable indication of poor word of mouth. A poor Cinemascore rating is another bad sign. The reverse is not necessarily the case, though. Captain Marvel got an A, which is kind of normal. The score is taken from the responses of opening night audiences, who would be expected to like a film.

Hey Kris, I understood what you were trying to say and whom you were saying it to. I just wanted to make sure we didn't fall in to that rabbit hole of if you don't like A you must be B. After all its the same tactic used by Babz, remember "everyone who hates Craig are sad little 12 year olds in their mothers basements." If the term incel existed then I'm sure she would have been happy to use it.

Variety is reporting that the town of Matera in southern Italy, a Unesco World Heritage site previously used as the location for Mel Gibson’s Passion, will be playing host to a 500-strong crew as Bond 25 shoots its pre-title sequence, taking advantage of up to $22.7m in local tax credits.............It’s been speculated that this will form part of a flashback sequence. https://birthmoviesdeath.com/2019/03/08 ... ongo-no-go
Just saw captain marvel in 3D. Good comic book movie, one of the better origins stories, not just for captain marvel but nick fury and the avengers. It’s also a Sam Jackson movie, makes me wonder if pierce brosnan couldn’t make his fifth after all. I knew it was cgi but it was d**n good.
Yes it’s a girl power themed movie, but it’s a lot of fun because it’s a good story. Going to be huge, we caught the next to last 3D showing tonight and it was pretty full for our area.
Honestly I think the negative campaign is probably Hollywood politics like the firing of the guardians of the galaxy director or dc rivalry or just monopoly bs that Disney has now to muscle out other studios on number of screens

There's never been a flashback in a Bond film before? Hasn't the author of this article seen Casino Royale or Goldeneye?

I suppose if one were being overly pedantic they could argue the pre-title sequences in those films took place at an earlier time but weren't necessarily "flash backs" per se. What got me though was this line; "Taking Daniel Craig’s Bond swansong to the Caribbean would be a poignant demonstration of how much the franchise respects its roots," yes that's why they stripped away everything that made Bond who he was and fractured the fan base.

Open in the $153-160 range. I think $160 might be possible judging from the crowd we saw
The estimate was $153 million, which is still pretty impressive. I wonder what the drop-off will be next weekend. There don't appear to be any big releases next Friday. The 3 wide releases are Captive State, an alien invasion movie starring John Goodman; Five Feet Apart, a teen romance; and the animated movie Wonder Park.

According to a synopsis from the article below this is the scene they're filming in Norway; "A child shoots an intruder. She is chased by a 2nd intruder and runs onto a frozen lake."
Great so if my hunch is correct, we're finally getting that Madeline Swann origin story we've all been holding our breath for! Honestly, not only do we not need another character origin, we heard this all before just last film when she told the story!

This is utterly ludicrous Keeping the same retread actor 5 years later with a rip-off storyline from a prior movie plot is deemed acceptable by Broccoli

She’s never known the chance of loosing the franchise like cubby has. She’s failed upwards base on the lingering social memory of Sean Connery’s bondmania, she’s had to build nothing on her own, her first test is the movie with Deadpool’s wife .
